Let's be entirely honest, all of Gaga's attempts at acting are cringe as hell. She's camp for sure! Is she a skilled actress? Ehhhhhhh

She has the kind of success because she is unique and has something to say with her work. There are plenty of extremely talented vocalists, but that doesn't matter if your personal output is a whole bunch of nothing, and most of Lambert's personal material is the kind of stuff that sounds like it was whipped up in an afternoon, or now, the kind of blah that AI could generate in seconds"
Almost like you just straight up can't read. Wow..."
There's a whole paragraph about having a small following and not having the kind of success they 'deserve'. You have to do something interesting that people respond to and can remember.

I’m right up there with rosscoe(au). The MEAN GIRLS musical film adaptation definitely quickly sparked and fizzled. I’ve yet to watch it as I forget it exists. It was much talked about when it was released but quickly faded away like the film adaptation of IN THE HEIGHTS. Indeed the film was a global financial success but it’s completely forgotten by the mainstream masses. I can’t recall any of the actors involved aside from that Rapp girl.

To each their own. I've been pleasantly surprised at how good Gaga is as an actor.
I wonder who the next casting announcement would be. (Honestly I didn’t find this super exciting). I wonder if in March/April 2025 is Eddie would return or if we could maybe get like a TImothee Chalamet. Or who else they’d cast
Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet at this point in his career would be opening Broadway productions, not joining a production as a replacement. Had he opened this revival of CABARET instead of Eddie Redmayne, it would have been THE event show of the season, which many were expecting.

These things don't usually come together too early so now they can pause the casting search for 3 or 4 months and also see how the grosses settle in through the rest of Redmayne's run and at the start of the new cast's run.

In the past year, there have been 386K visits to the Gayle Rankin Wikipedia page and 1.29M visits to the Auli'i Cravalho Wikipedia page (I pulled this from a social media analytics platform called ListenFirst).
That's just one metric for audience interest, but it appears in terms of name recognition, Cravalho is a much bigger get than Rankin for Cabaret.
Auli'i also has Moana 2 coming out this year so a lot of that traffic is likely related to that. HOWEVER, she hasn't really had much cross over appeal. Like the audience for Moana and the audience for Cabaret are two circles that so briskly touch each other they may as well have not. I think Adam is going to be more the draw of the two.
I don’t think they were speaking to a broad “Disney vs Broadway” scope (especially since one is just a different medium of/a direct gateway to the other), but specifically audiences of the Moana and Cabaret properties themselves barely overlap unless you’re counting parents.
She herself hasn’t had much work outside of Disney (Mean Girls and The Power aside), so it’s an interesting casting move. She must have been terrific in the room (she was fab in Mean Girls) because I sincerely doubt casting was thinking “You know who we need as a Sally replacement? Ariel Live!/Moana.”

If you think there isn't a huge audience that loves both Broadway and Disney you are so wrong."
Sure if you want to completely misunderstand what I'm saying we can go with what you're asserting, but that's not what I said at all. Even the most Disney of Gays are not going off their rocker for Moana, I'm sorry. That is a property that is popular almost exclusively with a younger fan base. It's like when Christy Carlsob Romano went into Avenue Q. Great casting choice, but it's not moving the needle on the name alone. She could be absolutely amazing and get people in the seats based on that, but her name isn't doing it.

I do understand what you're saying but I disagree. It's completely possible I'm wrong so I guess we'll see what happens.

That is... definitely an opinion. She also won a Golden Globe for "American Horror Story", got an Oscar nomination for her first starring role in a film, and also got strong reviews for House of Gucci.
If that's cringe, I think most actors would be happy with cringe status as well.
if all goes to plan i'll be getting tickets to nov 13 to see Adam and Auli'i. Is there anyway i could get cheaper tickets without having to worry about figuring out if i can eat in New York

Did you WATCH her in American Horror Story? Or even House of Gucci? She is giving nothing but Camp.
