Not as good as it should have been.

I still dislike him as much as I did when he was on American Idol. His shrieking is painful to listen to, that costume was horrendous and those lyrics! Need I say more?

I know so many people are gonna hate it, but I LOVED IT. It was crazy, weird, provocative, and incomprehensible. And I enjoyed every second of it.
Who would have thought someone would've given Lady Gaga a run for her money for giving the weirdest performance of the night?

Did he shove a male dancer's face into his crotch? Or did I imagine that? I wasn't really paying attention.

ljay, I saw that too.
I didn't like it. The song is just awful.

Your latest 7in sounds obscene unless you spin it at a 45.

It was way too staged "shocking" - complete with the cut-away to audience reaction - and bizarre, plus the pianist kiss. Yawn.
Why does this get its own thread, there's one on the OT Board.

It would have been better if he'd figured out how to sing that song live. I'm cool with him wanting to make electro pop, and I actually like the CD, but his voice doesn't naturally suit that style and it's something he'll apparently have to work on.
Performance wise...I was expecting about that. I just lol'd, like I did with 9 out of 10 of his Idol performances.
My mom was totally scandalized, though.

Awful. And I was blown away by him on Idol! I just didn't feel that song showcased his incredible talent AT ALL. Give me Lambert singing Mad World over this number any day!

I still don't like him. I still don't get him. Haven't since his first Idol audition.
No thanks.
No thanks.
I don't WANT to live in what they call "a certain way." In the first place I'd be no good at it and besides that I don't want to be identified with any one class of people. I want to live every whichway, among all kinds---and know them---and understand them---and love them---THAT's what I want! - Philip Barry (Holiday)

It was a stiff performance with some sloppy vocals but what people are freaking about online is the sexual stuff. I half understand as it prob was crossing the line for primetime, but I imagine much of it is major double standard given the other sexual performances.
His new album is great though. Do check it out.

How can I hate if he's totally just IRL trolling everyone?

i did not think it was a stiff performance, it was just trying to hard to push buttons.
also, if the song was good it would have been a better performance.
personally i think he sounded way too much like an 80s rocker and not in a good way.

Disappointing performance and crappy song. Too bad, as he is talented.

I basically totally agree with this:

I think there was just too much going on. I get that he wants to be provocative and everything, but he's really, really talented, and when he performs, he should just let those pipes do most of the work. Idol proved that he doesn't need all that extra "stuff" to keep the audience interested. It's a catch-22 because obviously with something like this you want to make a big splash, but the performance last night made it seem like he wasn't really ready for something quite as big and flashy as this. He still pulled it off, he's certainly magnetic enough, but I think he's so much better than what we saw last night. The album is sort of ridiculous in its way, but I'm obsessed with it, heh.

It's made right-wingnuts' heads explode. For that alone, I'm happy for it (although, I didn't and will probably never see it.)

You might think that a good thing, but it just feeds their anti gay bias, which is not good. Do we really need to give more reasons to be stupid?

They're going to feel that way regardless.
And frankly, I don't agree with anything being able to trigger moral outrage like that against a group of people. If you don't like the performance, fine, hold it against the performer - not some perceived group that he represents.

Had he done all that AND delivered a good vocal performance, it would have been great. But you could tell that he was just going through the motions. I just didn't see any fire in his eyes or anything. It all seemed very staged, where as Lady GaGa is natural perform and really pours her heart into what she's doing. I thought she was great.

Adam Lambert put 2 guy's heads in his crotch, had a lady rub on his weiner, touched a lady's cooter & made out with a boy... amazing.

I thought it was a horrible performance, but then again I thought he was overrated on Idol.

I've never really seen this guy perform, except for excerpts on "The Soup," but downloaded "For Your Entertainment" last night from Amazon for $3.99 and the Weezer frontman penned track, "Pick U Up," is quickly going to become my most played track on iTunes.
