I know I'm not, but I always wanted to create a horrible thread title for what I hope is not a horrible thread!
I'm very excited to see it. I haven't seen a live production in almost twenty years, and while I know this isn't live, it's close enough!

I just got my ticket today at the Zigfield. All other theaters were sold out and the lady at the box office told me there were only 40 seats left.
For what it is worth: a friend of mine (who I can assure you knows his Sondheim) saw it back in February. Upon his return his exact words were, "They got it."

Seriously, I can't wait!
Anybody know if it's still gonna be available for streaming online?

Posted: 10/21/13 at 10:12pmI saw it in June. I'll be honest, I chose it because it was one of the only shows on the West End available at a discount that I hadn't already seen (or would be soon seeing) in North America. But I definitely didn't regret the decision. The cast was absolutely stellar and they told the story well. My only complaint is that some of the fake American accents were horrendous.

Posted: 10/21/13 at 10:28pmI'm very disappointed that I am busy on Wednesday night. I hope that Digital Theater will release this for streaming afterward. If not, I still have the memory of a wonderful intimate production I saw a few years ago with Jessie Mueller as Mary. It will be a feat for this production to top that.

Posted: 10/21/13 at 10:31pmI, too, am unable to go. Very disappointed about it. What's the common trajectory on these kinds of things? Is subsequent streaming or digital rental or anything a guarantee??

Posted: 10/21/13 at 11:06pmI would guess that they'll wind up streaming it on their website. A dvd release doesn't seem likely, but neither did going to see a cinecast of Merrily We Roll Along, so who knows?

Posted: 10/22/13 at 12:51pmI'm pretty sure it will be released digitally. I got an email from Digital Theatre with a clip of "Franklin Shephard Inc." But like their Into the Woods, it will probably not be released on disc, only available through digital streaming.

Is it really 3 hours long? What version did they film?
(Not that length would deter me; I already have tickets for my group. I'm trying to calculate whether we can eat afterwards. This town (Palm Springs) rolls up the sidewalks by 9.)
I'm also interested in what time people plan to queue up. I'd rather not sit in the front row for 3 hours, even with an intermission.
P.S. to Phyllis: No, you are not the only one who is excited.

Forget the accents and forget Roscoe - I've been told that you'd never see Americans using the body-language the three leads use in this production.
Any feedback on that welcome...

It was bad enough live -- maybe they got poor old Clare Foster a dialect coach before they taped it.
