I'm hearing they are in talks with Carol Channing to take it over Hedwig after Andrew Rannells.

Pink DOES act. She's done two films (and cameoed in some others), the latest of which was last year's Thanks for Sharing with Mark Ruffalo, Tim Robbins, and Gwyneth Paltrow. And she got the best reviews in the film.
Having said that, I think her involvement with this production is purely wishful thinking.
I don't know where/how to search--but was NPH a popular choice on here when it was announced that he was Hedwig?
Short answer: mostly positive, but quite a few critics and skeptics.
Edit: OK, reading through that thread now is actually pretty funny.
NPH in Hedwig announcement thread.

I'm 99.9% positive that a woman will not play Hedwig in this production.
If Michael Pitt could sing I think he'd be an interesting choice. I think he's a terrific actor and I know his vocals in the movie were dubbed, but if he can sing at all I'd be interested in seeing him switch roles.

I also thought Michael Pitt would be an interesting choice for this after I rewatched the movie earlier this week. I only just noticed while the credits were rolling that Tommy's vocals were done by Stephen Trask.

Ha! We watched last night and had the same thought about Michael Pitt, and then noticed the dubbing credit too!
How about Lena Hall as Hedwig? Then they could get a "name" to play Yitzhak.
JCM, although we on the theater scene would give our right arms to see, is an unknown to the tourist trade.
I would give all my extremities to see JCM do Hedwig.
Agrees w Blaxx-- he is amazing--- I think he has enough of a Hedwig "cult-base" following, that he would pack the house
" I think he has enough of a Hedwig "cult-base" following, that he would pack the house"
Well of course his cult base would do anything to see him do it again, but you really can't compare a local cult base to the influx of millions of tourists we get.
Just let me know when the discount code is available.
but you really can't compare a local cult base to the influx of millions of tourists we get.
Does Rannells though? I can't imagine him having that much of a higher number of followers than JCM.
There is no way that Rannells will draw more ppl to the show than JCM would--- I love the show to death, and will continue to see it, but I really don't think this casting was a good decision (and I will gladly eat a crow sandwich if I am wrong)
He is not going to draw the tourist crowd, and speaking with a bunch of diehard "Hedwig" fanatics today, he is not generating much excitement.
If anyone has inferred that I'm saying Andrew R is going to draw the tourist trade, well, wrong.
I didn't bring up the tourist trade--- Blaxx and I just commented on JCM--- for a 8-week run, I just think he would keep the ticket sales at a nice number--- certainly not what they are doing now, but much more than Rannells will in that same 8-week period.

Lolol you're right Brerbear, reading that thread from last year with everyone complaining about NPH is hilarious!!
testing-it's probably because I don't read that person's posts.
Well i have never been a fan of the show. I just don't quite get. I did see
Neil Patrick and thought he was terrific.. just don't get the show. It doesn't really
end and just becomes a rock concert.
I am a fan of Andrew Rannells and may go back just to see him.
Thanks for doing the searching for me BrerBear-a fascinating read-wonder where g.d.e.l.g.i is working now???
A re-read of that thread was just what I needed this morning! And not to pat myself on the back, but I did say that people should maybe hold off on their opinions until the show opened, lest they looked like Assholes. Oh...hahahaha. Good times.

That just seems bananas in light of everything you said before that.
I guess this explains Rannells' limited run: http://www.playbill.com/news/article/192520-Andrew-Rannells-Lands-Role-Opposite-Anne-Hathaway-and-Robert-De-Niro-in-New-Feature-Film
Since it's filming this summer, and he is starting Hedwig at the end of summer, I don't see how that explains it.
