pretty sure Universal owns the trademark and likeness. Universal Florida used to have a Betty Boop Store and they have a Betty Boop meet n greet.

The girl playing Boop was a Jimmy Award finalist and her first professional show was Becoming Nancy in 2019.

Never said that. But on stage that dinky little wig won’t read as Betty Boop. She is a cartoon, after all. Big eyes, big hips, big hair. The theme park photo posted above is awful, not sure why you'd think that’s the only route you could take.

I think she looks fabulous. And I have to imagine this isn’t the final look anyway, just a promo shot. They don’t even start performances for another 2 months.

Her head is enormous. Since the actress is a human being, a little volume in the hair would be nice.

Which funny enough turned out to not be true that Baby Esther was the inspiration for the character. For reasons, not least of which, Baby Esther died very young, most likely not even being photographed in adulthood. A case of the internet running with it. So much so that Taraji P. Henson falsely claimed on the BET Awards that Betty was based on a Baby Esther point blank.

She was not. In fact, Betty's first incarnation was a bipedal dog. This story got went so rampant that even PBS had to publish an official retraction for essentially publishing false information.
