Have Ben Platt's scheduled time off from DEH been publicized? I'm wondering if he will be in the show when I'm in the city in a few weeks on 4/7/17 to 4/10/17.
There are very few vacations allowed for new shows between now and the Tonys.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

He's off this entire week through Sunday (7-11 to 7-16). Anyone know the dates he's off for the Jewish holidays? Is it both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur?
Good question. I bought a ticket months ago for my upcoming birthday (sept 20th matinee). It didn't even occur to me that he'd be out for a holiday and the telecharge website didn't say anything at the time.
Seeing the show a 4th time was a little luxurious anyway (going the 2nd and 3rd times were unexpected). Would telecharge give me a refund if he's on vacation? Still don't quite understand how that works.
Yes, the box office has been honoring refunds or exchanges when Ben is out, especially if the absence was not announced at the time you purchased tickets. I do not know if you will be able to call Telecharge once the absence is announced, or if you'll have to go to the box office.
However, the rumor is that Platt is leaving the show at the end of the summer, although nothing has been announced, so it is also possible he won't be in the show at all by the time you see it again.

Well, November 12 supposedly when contracts expire. But he can sign on for longer if he chooses, or not. Given how taxing the role is, most people are saying not.
I don't have any special information. The question has come up a few times on the boards here, and I thought I had seen other people reply that they have heard this fall. I was just warning @greenifyme2 that she may miss Platt altogether. Although, @haterobics clarified that November 12 is the date that has been thrown out on the board, so perhaps my warning was unnecessary.

Does anyone know if Ben has taken off for Jewish holidays in the past (for example, when he was in the Book of Mormon)? It doesn't seem that he took off for Passover this year (apparently he was out for a few days because he was sick, but not for the holiday). Wouldn't absences for religious holidays be announced way ahead of time?
I hope he is lying on a beach somewhere doing nothing and eating all the pizza and Panda Express he wants. He has earned it.

I know nothing of the rumor mill, but I am skeptical of that one. Ben was valuable only to DEH at the time the original contracts were negotiated, so there is no reason he wouldn't be on the same year contract as everyone else. Which would mean that to leave before then his agent would have to negotiate him out of a property that can only lose by seeing him go. It's not unprecedented - NBC bought Jeremy Jordan out of Newsies. But Disney knew that the show could run without him - the fans were coming to see the show and Jeremy was icing on the cake. In DEH whoever plays Evan is the show, pretty much.
I wouldn't lose too much sleep over September dates. (Other than the High Holy Days.)
The Washington Post also noted that Ben's contract is through November.
I've seen two dates tossed around on the boards - Nov. 12th and Nov. 19th. Nov. 12th would be a year from previews, I think has been said? (Not sure, so please correct me if inaccurate!) while Nov. 19th was the last date of the original ticket release for the show.
I'm more inclined to believe Nov. 19th myself, as it seems somewhat silly to have them signed for a year and then release tickets for a year and a week, but who knows? The real question is whether he'll extend or not, considering how arduous the role is for him.
When he was on the Ronna & Beverly podcast he mentioned that he gets Yom Kipppur off per his contract. Looks like it will be on September 29 & 30 this year.

November 12th has been sold out for many months. The 19th is not or was not sold out last week when I checked. He has confirmed his contract is up in November, and he is leaving in November. The end of summer? That would be next month and would have obviously already been announced.
NBC did not buy Jeremy out of Newsies. They said "Smash is number one on your schedule, everything else comes second". He couldn't handle both jobs like he thought he could so he broke his contract with Newsies. And....he did not benefit from a failed show that no one watched. It was weird that he got to do Newsies when they filmed it, Corey Cott played that role a lot longer and is much more age appropriate. Off topic. I apologize.
Either Will or Mike did an interview recently where they confirmed that it was definitely original cast until November. Sorry I don't know which show. My YouTube was auto playing DEH videos at the time.

It's fine, but it's not "Evan" hair. Michaels hair is more like the style for connor.

I understand what you mean by this, jorge. Evan is a clean-cut nerd type. Michael's hair is more emo, and I don't think it would fit at all with Evan's wardrobe.
