Some of the people mentioned on here I don't feel have had long enough careers yet. Not saying that they're not good performers, but Julia Murney has only been around for a few years, and has only been in one Broadway show. Give it time, she will have her day. As will Kelly O'Hara, Richard Kind, etc...
That said, Marin Mazzie, Julie Andrews, and John Rait.
"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert

It also means that people on this board think they are good enough performers to have one.
I have no original ideas, but I will say... How can Julie Andrews not have a Tony? Boggles my mind. Well, definitely her first and foremost. Also, Julia Murney Sherie Rene Scott (can't believe she doesn't have one!) Raul Esparza
"This table, he is over one hundred years old. If I could, I would take an old gramophone needle and run it along the surface of the wood. To hear the music of the voices. All that was said." - Doug Wright, I Am My Own Wife
This has been my biggest gripe for over five years and I'll say it again here. The fact that Orfeh didn't get nominated, let alone WIN for Saturday Night Fever was and continues to be nonsense. I feel the same way about Sherie Scott, for the same season actually. Raul Esparza is another name that immediately comes to mind. But I definitely think all three will eventually have their little gold statues.
I have to say Greg Jbara. I mean, he should have at least got an nom. this year as Supporting for DRS.
and Christopher Sieber.

There's a special kind of people known as show people. We live in a world full of dreams. Sometimes we're not too certain what's false and what's real. But we're seldom in doubt about what we feel. ~Curtains~

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...

Yeah, I think Julie wins this one. Even though it does kind of annoy me that she declined her one nomination, I guess it was a pretty nice and selfless thing to do for the people she worked with.
best12bars - Geraldine Page - I literally just thought of her and a second later I saw your post - Great minds think alike!
In addition to the aforementioned Marin Mazzie, Mary Testa and Andre DeShields, I would like to add: Zeljko Ivanek Howard McGillin Zoe Wanamaker Ernestine Jackson

- Like many others have mentioned before, I have to agree with Julie Andrews. She was nothing less than fabulous in MY FAIR LADY and VICTOR/VICTORIA both, and still nothing. Like many have also said before, I do hope she wins a Lifetime Achievement Award soon.
- The late Raul Julia never won a Tony for any of his great performances. It's a shame that not many people know who he is because he's one of the finest performers of all time, in my opinion. He's best known for playing Don Quixote in the 1992 revival of MAN OF LA MANCHA, Macheath in THE THREEPENNY OPERA, Guido Contini in NINE, and Proteus in TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA. Nominated for 4 Tony Awards; winner of none. He died on October 24, 1994.
- Barbra Streisand was robbed of her Tony for FUNNY GIRL. Whoever told Carol Channing she had any talent lied to her. It's actually pretty funny- Barbra lost to Carol Channing in HELLO, DOLLY, however, a couple of years later, Barbra won the Academy Award for the movie version of FUNNY GIRL, AND she was asked to play Dolly in the movie version of HELLO, DOLLY. Carol Channing was never even considered (thank heaven, because she would have completely destroyed that movie). Barbra needs to get over her little stage fright issue, do a show, and win a Tony because she's so freakin' amazing!!!
- I also agree with those of you who said Carolee Carmello. Although I didn't expect her to win Best Featured Actress this year, I was really expecting her to win Best Leading Actress in 1999, but Bernadette Peters stole that from her. As much as I love Bernadette, I didn't think her performance as Annie Oakley was Tony-worthy over Carolee's Lucille Frank. We need to get that woman into a hit show!
That's all I can think of at the moment, but I'm sure I will think of some more later.
"I believe that art does not exist only to entertain, but also to challenge one to think, to provoke, even to disturb, to engage in a constant search for the truth."

Anyone who saw Carol Channing in HELLO, DOLLY!, couldn't possibly make that comment. Her Dolly, is a performance for the ages. She's perfection, on every single line. Because she's such a big star now, it is hard to believe; but, if "People" hadn't been a hit single, it is very doubtful that Streisand would have ever gotten FUNNY GIRL. As it was, she almost didn't get it. She was not very good in the show. She always looked like she was in danger of falling asleep in the role, on stage, and most people believe that her replacement, Mimi Hines, was much, much better. Of course, when she did the musical numbers, she saved her performance. While I think she's all over the place in the acting department, in the film, she's about a billion times better than she was on stage.

It's not true that Carol wasn't considered. In fact, it was assumed by everyone at Fox, that she would do the role. They weren't even considering other actresses for it. However, when Ernest Lehman, who produced it and wrote the screenplay, saw her in THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE (for which she won a Golden Globe and was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar), he decided she was too much for film, and decided that instead of getting another "older" actress, he would go a completely different route, and cast a younger one, thus Streisand. The only thing she's without is acting lessons. Let's give her some before she ever leaves Wicked again.
Audra should have 5 Tony's. Her Marie Christine is astonishing. Tough year though. And no one really liked the show, so it's understandanle. Damn Heather Headley and her spastic screachy belting.
I don't really know if Sherie Renee has done much worthy of a Tony. Amneris is poorly written, and Christine is fun, but nothing special. She needs a really good role. She's great though.
I would say she deserves an Outer Critics for L5Y.
Michael McElroy, anyone?
And let's force Toni Collette to come back to Broadway so she can be worthy of saying that she's been robbed of a Tony.
Billy Porter. He was the Teen Angel in the 1994 revival of Grease. He's never been nominated, but I think he's one of the greatest African-American singers I've ever heard.
Others that come to mind:
Christopher Sieber Robert Westenberg Marin Mazzie Chita Rivera
What Julia Murney really needs/deserves is a fabulously written role in a fabulous show that makes it to Broadway... and the Tony will follow. I agree that she deserves one, but we need to get her a meaty role, first! At least some of the others (Sherie, Julie Andrews who I agree both also deserve Tonys) have had some good roles in successful shows.
"You know, a little orphan girl once told me that the sun would come out tomorrow. Her adopted father was a powerful billionaire, so I supressed the urge to laugh in her face. But now, by gum, I think she might have been on to something!"

ladyofthelake - Chita Rivera is not Tonyless - She has won two Tonys. For THE RINK and KISS OF THE SPIDERWOMAN.
JohnBoy2 - Thank you for your marvelous, astute defense of the wondrous Carol Channing. Her Dolly Levi was as you said "a performance of the ages." I was going to respond to that post, but I couldn't have said it better than you!
