This guy is amazing. I don't think his acting is all that super, but his voice singing "I'll be there" is incredible. a FULL voiced singer. Not some wimpy Fyero tenor, or an overblown baritone. Its a gorgeous full controlled sound but bursting with passion.
WHIle I loathe the Pirate Queen as a show, I think people need to go see it to hear a real musical theater man's voice. Like a James Barbour sound.
I wholeheartedly agree. I was shocked by how crisp and clear his voice was on those big notes. A real find! I hope he gets to stick around this side of the pond and do more.
I think Jason Danieley gives him a run for his money.

I'd say Danieley wins by a long shot....and gets better material, to boot.

really? Jason "theres a breeze of the river" gives powerhouse Hadley fraser a run for his money>? I completely disagree. But I guess thats why art is so elastic.
Fraser was one of the few things that impressed me in Pirate Queen.
Same here, Cape Twirl. What a voice on that guy!
Hadley has one of the best set of pipes I have ever heard in my life.
Oh I don't disagree that Fraser is amazing, but I think Danieley is amazing because he doesn't have to belt to sound impressive. He has such a pure voice. Mass, what do you mean "there's a breeze of the river" exactly? I just kind of giggled when I read that, not as an insult, but rather cause I had no idea what you meant.

Good god. If you're going to insult someone can you at least do it right? Jason played Malcolm not Jerry. Malcolm sang "You Walk With Me". Jerry (Patrick Wilson) sang "Breeze Off the River".
And he's not too hard on the eyes either.
Sorry, completely missed the Full Monty reference!
Another vote for Danieley here. His voice is like velvet and chocolates.

Hadley makes me melt! I saw Pirate Queen once and was left breathless by I'll be There. loved the song so much, i went a second time. And we met him at the stage door; gorgeous voice, and sincerely nice nice and genuine as well- Yay!
Agreed about Hadley. "I'll Be There" gives me massive chills. Easily the best in the show.

oops. sorry. got the songs mixed up. :)
I think Jason is fine and I don't think that Hadley has to belt his brains out to be amazing either. He has many soft nice moments in PQ. But the difference is that Hadley can, while Jason, from what I have seen, cannot.
He impresses me a lot but I feel like I've heard it all before.
Hadley should definetly get a THEATRE WORLD award and I hope a well deserved TONY nom.
His voice is wonderful and I hear he got it from his Dad.
I've heard wonderful things about both actors and i think they're fantastic, however my vote goes to Douglas Sills. Oh god, that man's voice is heaven to me. I wish he did more shows.
Douglas Sills is practically perfect in every way. For serious.

Agree, Hadley Fraser was the one thing I liked about Pirate Queen. His voice and his acting, he made me tear up with "I'll Be There".
Just got to mention two guys that get my vote Brent Barrett and Marc Kudisch.
Neither are on Broadway right now,
which is the topic.
Does Hadley Fraser's combination of voice and vibratto remind anyone else of Hugh Jackman's singing voice. I don't know what it is, but when I close my eyes and listen to his voice I kinda picture Hugh singing. Weird.
