I'd love for it to be Beth Leavel. And just for fun, I'll throw out Nancy Opel as another actress I'd love to see be the alternate. I actually believe she did the part regionally a few years back in DC, too.

If it is someone currently (as of July 13th) on Broadway, then the only reasonable guesses is Judy Kuhn, Carolee Carmello, Jessica Hecht, Jayne Houdyshell, Alix Korey, or Judy Kaye
"Ok ok ok ok ok ok ok. Have you guys heard about fidget spinners!?" ~Patti LuPone
Of those choices, the only ones that seem like a good fit for Dolly (and for a production built around Bette Midler's strengths) are Houdyshell and Kaye.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

I don't know if you meant this as a joke or not , but it's not Debra Monk. She is already scheduled to bring the James Lapine show "Mrs Miller Does Her Thing" to Signature Theatre in Arlington during the first month of previews for "Dolly" Really looking forward to this show, even though I think Debra Monk would make an incredible Dolly.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
As if Bette isn't enough, the cast sounds great too. Gavin, Kate, David Hyde-Pierce..(and I hope Carol Channing is able to pop in sometime too.)
Does anyone know the magic date tickets go on sale? Please shoot me a PM if you do (and Thanks)
I'm sure after seeing her in concerts, or the Sue Mengers play, The Divine Miss M will make sure this production is top notch too. And please BETTE, thank you for your continued tweets concerning Donald Trump; I wish her passion was contagious!
nothing really on the website outside of Midler & Pierce's names & their start dates. I'd imagine tickets will go on sale sometime in September.

Watching her speak about HELLO, DOLLY! on that BWW video just fueled more excitement for her Broadway musical return. This will indeed be the event this coming Spring. I think many will revisit the revival as I'm expecting her to add many random/ad-libbed Divine Miss M peppering in her performances to keep her fresh nightly so no performances will ever be the same. Very much what happened with countless people revisiting Hugh Jackman in THE BOY FROM OZ. Every performance was its own.
Awesome!!! Though I'm a bit hesitant to start preparing for tickets until we know about a potential alternate/standby schedule. Anybody have knowledge on that front?
