Amazing grosses for Chicago!!!

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

It doesn't appear that the info for Stranger Things from last week is included here.

Overall, though, considering the weather disrupting things this weekend, this week is not bad at all.

Happy trails to HELL’S KITCHEN, Teal Wicks, and the original recruits of OPERATION MINCEMEAT.

Great start for EVERY BRILLIANT THING for its first two previews.

Lea Michele was on vacation from CHESS last week, hence their meh numbers. (Honestly better than I thought they’d be, though.)

The show was dark the week prior, so there was no info to provide.

& Juliet and SIX continue to be the two shows in a worrisome spot. I think at this point SIX has built enough of a reputation that, with a competent marketing strategy, they could successfully run it in a midtown Off-Broadway venue for quite some time.

Death Becomes Her producers need to convince bigger Broadway names to go into the show I think. If you have women who can handle the rigors of this show but also have TV fame go in, it could give it a boost. Jane Krakowski and Laura Benanti? Ana Gasteyer could be fab too when she's done with Schmigadoon. Someone at that level. Or start stunt casting Viola. Obviously its winter and cold and snowy so everyone had a down week, but this show can't really afford to drop much at all.

Do we have any info on what Oh, Mary!'s breakeven is? I'm sure they're fine as they've weathered these sorts of grosses during Gilpin's run (the most underrated Mary imo), but I'm just curious about the weekly nut.

I'm not sure how many tickets she would sell but god would I LOVE for Brandy to replace as Viola.

Getting a little worried for Death Becomes Her given they still had 8 shows last week. I'm sure the snow day didn't help overall attendance. I wonder if they're locking in Jennifer Simard's replacement soon. I know no end date for her run has been announced yet, curious how long she's planning on staying with the show. Same for Michelle Williams.

Also so impressed with Lion King! After all this time and they're almost in the 2mill mark

I did hear one rumor that Alex Newell was considered as a replacement. And look maybe this is too far fetched but Nicole Scherzinger did one of the early readings/workshops of the show as Viola way before Sunset Blvd., so maybe there’s a possibility she could do it…as far as Jennifer Simard goes I heard Stephenie J. Block was mentioned, which to be honest serve as a good mini Falsettos/Edwin Drood reunion.

They were capitalized at $4.7 million during their initial run and had recouped in roughly 5 months. They have been running in the black ever since and have made profit galore. The breakeven is likely around the same amount as TWO STRANGERS (roughly $500K). They would probably have to be on a downward trajectory similar to SIX for a sustained period of time before any alarms would go off. If anything, they will likely pick a date to close once they run out of possible casting options since they are doing the piecemeal extension approach

The show is not closing any time soon - if the soon to be announced next replacement is who everyone thinks it is, it will sell out nearly immediately for the next bit and more than make up for any disappointing weeks with JCM. Credit to the producers for trying all kinds of performers for the show, but it's becoming clearer that they need at least a "TV Name" as Mary to keep the show sold out at this point.

Based on original docs, OM's breakeven was just under $500k (tho I'm assuming there are alot more expenses for mrktg, casting, rehearsals, etc).

Has anyone tried rushing Just In Time recently?  I hate how they have an in person rush, haven’t done this in years.  Need to see it before Groff leaves.

I imagine the producers of Oh! Mary! are wishing they did not sign JCM for such a long engagement.

If there was any doubt that Lea Michelle is a huge box office attraction, last week's Chess grosses should take care of that.  Given that Aaron Tveit has sold plenty of tickets, I really didn't expect Chess to suffer as much as it did. without her  I imagine that Lea's willingness to extend beyond the June date will play a huge role in any decision to extend.  I imagine she will need to agree to extend if the Broadway production is going to have any chance of returning its investment on Broadway.

some plays would KILL for what people consider “bad weeks” for Oh, Mary, had they not cancelled a performance they would have had a 850-900k week

jcm and simu are playing to almost sold out houses nearly every night

Lea is one of the producers so she has incentive to stay.
