They'll be doing 4 come September. I think their best schedule would be Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 2pm; Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7:30pm.

In general, Broadway shows should start getting more creative with their schedules, especially during summer and winter breaks. People would definitely respond to it.

Great numbers for Parade for just 4 Previews! Can't wait to see what Sweeney's numbers are for next week!

Actually, Benko's numbers are fine for February. She made comparable to the First Leading Lady's. The show certainly needs its star, but if they can find a comparable name for 7 shows a week, it might have an even longer life.

I agree that's a great schedule for them but would AEA allow it?

Why not? They're off Monday and Tuesday, plus Wednesday evening and Friday during the day.

It's not just a matter of Equity allowing it -- it's every union. And no -- they would not allow it (at least not without monumental premiums and O/T added on).

OT due to the three, two show days? Their Wednesdays at 8pm are their worst-selling shows. Tomorrow night is about 40% sold. Come September, Thursdays start at 8pm and I doubt that does any better.

This schedule is perfectly acceptable. Aladdin had an 8 shows in 5 days schedule while in Chicago.

while I agree it would be great, it has not worked time and again. If A Beautiful Noise is the show to break the trend…great! But we’re at the mercy of a market that has rejected this change multiple times. I think the only people really demanding it are members who want to squeeze 45 shows in 2.5 days.

I do think shows struggling a bit would benefit from an altered schedule like a Tuesday or Thursday matinee instead of fighting with all the shows for the Wednesday slot. Same with adding a Sunday evening. People are more willing to take a chance on a show if there’s no other options.

Agree—I’m happy more shows are doing Monday nights nowadays.

Will Swenson was on a podcast with Ramin the other day and he said two shows in one day were really hard on his voice. He takes Wednesday nights off, but the 2-show day is difficult. He uses a gravelly voice to mimic Diamond's and I suspect that would be a non-starter from his pov.

Last week was February school vacation week, and those shows with increased attendance were the ones appealing to the families who were on vacation ( as I predicted last week).

From the outset, Nick Fradiani was already the scheduled alternate for Will on Wednesday nights

That does not sound sustainable for any performer.

Nick's been going on for another show lately. He was on this past Sunday and has gone on for a second performance lately. Wouldn't be surprised if Swenson cuts down to just 6 performances a week and Nick gets the Saturday matinees, too.

That wasn't the point. People here were talking about 3 or 4 matinees a week. When Ramin asked why he didn't take a full day off instead Wednesday nights, he said it was because of his voice and the need to sing "gravelly." Said the weekends were difficult, but so long as he was hydrated and got plenty of sleep, he was doing alright with the schedule.

For sure, I pack as many shows as I can when I head out. Next week I have Thursday and Friday day totally empty. It would be nice if a few more shows would do some off schedule matinees or something. But I get it can be an issue

Shows have had 2 days a week off in the past. Peter Pan at the Gershwin ages ago had Monday and Tuesday off. There's no extra charge for the stagehands.
