I just read in one of these posts that JHUD is all wrong for Grizabella because Grizabella doesn't have a powerhouse voice..she doesn't....WHAT have you never heard Betty Buckley sing Memory...I don't know if Jennifer is the right choice but her vocal power is perfect for the character....WOW I am still wondering who this person saw sing Memory

I’ve been thinking this for a while, but regardless of what the cats look like when they are finally revealed tomorrow, did casting Swift ensure some box office credibility, numbers-wise? I mean, if her fans will flock like they do for anything she does, with repeat visits? Her fan base isn’t Beyoncé-level, but pretty dang close.

I agree with this, I've seen some Grizabellas with lack luster vocals and personally I think the more power the better.

Any notice about the time we will be able to see the trailer?

I hope it´s a good trailer and not a meeeh trailer in which you don´t see anything...

because its only July I am not expecting much other than some music and basic/generic imagery. surely the film is still being worked on with the heavy CGI elements.

I am imagining the trailer will be similar to what Universal showed us for Mamma Mia and Les Mis. Plus, Collider reported we will hear some of Taylor Swift’s new song that ALW wrote. Wouldn’t be surprised if the song gets released digitally on Friday either.

Its a teaser trailer so you won’t be seeing diddly squat. Footage will be used for the first trailer, not the teaser trailer.

I don’t think it is going to be 2:26 min of diddly squat. I’m pretty sure we are getting a full, official first trailer. Here is the link mentioning the run time: https://bbfc.co.uk/releases/cats-filmtrailer

I'll give them this: They're going for a definite, stylistic look.

I'm just trying to decide whether or not it's terrifying. I think when they're standing up, it doesn't look so weird. But there's something uncanny valley-esque whenever they move on all fours like cats.

For the record, I've somehow made it through life without ever seeing a stage production of Cats.

Um...so, that happened.

I don’t know what to make of that. I don’t think I liked it. The scale seemed off to me (cats aren’t that small) and for being computer generated, some it looked an awful lot like people in unitards. I also think they made Jennifer Hudson look flat-out ugly, not old tired and downtrodden.

Ouch.

This is terrifying. This is going to scar children. There’s no one on Earth who will watch this movie and not see those things in their sleep.....

This is the HELLO, DOLLY of this generation. This movie is going to kill the movie musical.

They all look like human beings dressed in tights and masks - not very cat-like.

All the bluster about the "digital fur technology" and it looks like a creepier version of the traditional costumes and makeup.

‪Judi Dench is the only one that looks decent. Everything about the cats are horrible from the ugly CGI faces to the awkward human bodies. The stage costumes look much better and pleasing.

The direction and the sets and choreography might be gorgeous. But, the movie looks ridiculous because the story is ridiculous. It’s just...happy, dancing cats. I can’t believe we got this before Miss Saigon and Wicked.

This horrid musical didn't kill musicals. I doubt it will kill the movie musical. And I actually think the trailer looks fun. But I have a feeling this movie wont convert anyone.
