You mean the the thing they told us not to film when we arrived at our seats?
I'm just happy I managed to record an audio. It's not the same like... at all given how much of this show is visual... but it's something.
Caught this on Sat night and I'm still thinking about it. What a refreshing, joyous, educational, moving production of this classic. I'm one of those that gets annoyed when people's go-to for the original is "there's no plot!" I've always appreciated the absurdity of Cats. So while I don't feel this unique lens necessarily brings a new understanding... damn it fits like a glove.
My only critique were a few moments of chaos that could benefit from some focus (jennyanydots' , whom I loved, sequence comes to mind). Maybe it took me a minute to adapt to the concept.
Sasha Velour was one of our guest judges and if you've had the privilege of seeing the show... yes, we went nuts during that moment ;-)

A few weeks ago I saw Garnet Williams perform as Grizabella and she was amazing! I heard people sobbing around me and audiencegave her a standing ovation after she sings Memory in the second act.
One thing that was a bit confusing for my friends is when is the curtain call and is it ok to videotape it? I've seen youtube videos of curtain call but a friend went this past week and told me when she filmed the curtain call of Shelby Griswold (understudy who performed that night) one of the ushers gave her the flashlight. She kept on videotapingsince what can ushers do at that point other than point a flashlight? Eject her out? The show is over. Plus other people throughout the performance space were recording."
To answer your question, our usher on Saturday was very clear about no pics or vids during the curtain call when seating us.
Anyone hear about another/final extension at PAC with the final current show a month away?

I never heard this or I wouldn’t have tried to film. Most shows these days seem to let you film the curtain call.

E V E R!! What a joy this production is!!!
Man…I’m turning in my gay card. I thought this was a big bore. Through the whole thing I kept thinking : God what Michael Bennett could’ve done with this

I hope this is accurate from a reliable source. I've been waiting for an extension as I'm coming to NY in late August and desperately want to see this. I called PAC earlier today to ask if they're able to say anything about extension plans, and was told it's definitely not extending but that they're hoping for a future life elsewhere.
From what I know from certain cast, they have a contract until the beginning of September for any extensions.
Anything beyond that would have to be negotiated.
Finally seeing this tomorrow night. I can’t wait! Grabbing dinner at The Dead Rabbit beforehand as well, which I’ve also been looking forward to checking out for a while.
Also, the weather in the city is bearable for the first time in weeks. Bless.

They are eyeing Broadway for the Spring. Haven't heard of an October extension, but just through mid-September.

The poster also said in January that Whoopi Goldberg would be the next Hermes in Hadestown and an announcement was coming soon.
Last June they said Rachel Zegler was rumored for Hadestown.
Take that as you will.
The matinee is cancelled (just arrived) and they said prob tonight
It appears both of today’s performances have been cancelled again due to cast member illness. I think COVID is going around the cast since it’s taking everyone out for roughly 4-5 days at a time.
They also said don’t come tomorrow

I have tickets for tomorrow...is there a way to find out if a performance is cancelled without traveling down to the PAC?

This is really unfortunate for them. I think shows should double or triple their cover positions from the get-go. It’s a case of pay for that security or pay for refunds.

They're telling people with today's tickets to email, so email (or phone) is probably the best method to check on tomorrow's shows, if they know yet. I'm sure they're really busy at the moment though. Otherwise they've been good about posting this week's cancellations on the website. Thursday's cancellation was on the website Wednesday.
"Due to cast member illness, the July 20th performances of Cats: “The Jellicle Ball” (2pm and 8pm) have been canceled. Please reach out to Audience Services at info@pacnyc.org for ticket information regarding the July 20th performances."
It's really a tight cast. There's only 2 people as Swings who also double as Booth Singers and the Cops at one point. They definitely need to expand if this goes to Broadway.
if this transfers to Bway, they'll need 8-10 swings if they plan on a 6-month minimum run.
