COVID performance cancellations

Maybe it’s a new understudy? There’s no reason that an understudy who’s been with the show since opening  wouldn’t be rehearsed at this point.

Wow I saw Company last night and everyone sounded great. What lucky timing for me.

That's true and they have been rehearsed but is this really about food poisoning - come on, could a cast member have tested positive? Hello, look what's happening on Broadway and what Moulin Rouge did last night. We shall see?

Shows shouldn’t even let audiences into the building without having every test back that they’re waiting for! That’s the height of disrespect for your paying customers.

It’s possible that the understudy would have had to do something technically difficult and hasn’t had a put-in or safety check. Or it’s possible the first cover called out and it would have been a second or third cover who truly hasn’t rehearsed enough yet. If they’re saying it’s not covid-related, I think we should believe them.

I don’t think they’re lying. If that got out it would be a disaster.

Obviously starting to expect a lot of cancellations for this week, but this one hurts. It was going to be my moms second time in New York ever and she’s always wanted to see them - we were going to closer. At least I got to take her to see Caroline back in October. I just text her to stay home instead.

COVID performance cancellations

I'm about to ask a very dumb question so bear with me - already asked on Reddit but I figured I'd ask here as well, as this thread is more active than r/Broadway.

I had tickets for Hadestown tonight, but needless to say that didn't end up happening. I got an email from Jujamcyn Theatres informing me that I'll be refunded - the thing is, I didn't buy the tickets, my friend did and sent them to me via SeatGeek. I'm assuming that they're still connected to her credit card and she'll be able to get the money back...right? I'm a bit concerned as she didn't get the same email despite being the original purchaser.

If not, no big deal, I'll just send her the money via venmo or something, but I wanted to confirm that I won't have to do that in the first place and she'll get it automatically. Figured I'd ask here rather than bugging customer service - I bet they're already overwhelmed right now and don't need to be bombarded with an obvious question. As I said, I can't imagine the refund WON'T go to her as she was the original purchaser and merely transferred them to me, but I just wanted to double-check and make sure.

Re: Company. I believe Jacob Dickey was still on as Theo tonight. So I'm wondering if either Elder or Conte got sick, and they the other "boyfriend" cover wasn't ready yet. Someone on Twitter said Patti announced they were prepping an understudy.

There’s a blurry picture on twitter, but it looks like Etai is the one not on stage for “curtain call” but someone else can correct me if that’s wrong. He could also just be cut off in the picture.

Hmm. The two Paul U/S are Dickey and Nicholas Rodriguez. Being that Dickey was on as Theo tonight, Rodriguez might not have been ready.

Thanks. Like I said, I was already 99% sure but it's best to be certain considering that these tickets arent exactly cheap!

One thing I do find interesting about Hadestown in particular is that tonight and tomorrow's matinee got cancelled, but not tomorrow evening. Wouldn't it make more sense to cancel both shows? I feel bad for Trent Saunders, he was supposed to play Orpheus over the last few days, and tonight got cancelled at did tomorrow's matinee (Reeve is coming back for the evening show, assuming it even happens at all). Hope to catch his (Trent's) Orpheus in the future, especially since it didn't happen tonight.

You don't cancel a performance until you absolutely have to.

What about TKTS tickets?  The booth had some amazing premium seats for tonight and tomorrow's matinee.  I'm hoping the 2 PM doesn't get cancelled but if it does, do you just go back to the booth and they refund you there?

The show recently had 4 or 5 cases of Covid, so it's likely the understudy was also out sick.

Apparently COMPANY was cancelled tonight (12/17) a few minutes after the show started. Someone in the cast, orchestra, or crew had food poisoning.
