Like with The Music Man - Sutton is out of the show because she tests positive, but Hugh doesn’t have an understudy go on/cancel the show? Don’t they have a kissing scene? I’m trying to wrap my head around this process because it doesn’t make any sense to me."
Quarantine occurs after you’ve been exposed and possibly infected after being in close contact with somebody who has tested positive. The CDC defines “close contact” as being within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. Fully vaccinated individuals do not need to quarantine unless they develop symptoms, but the CDC says they should get tested five to seven days after exposure. Public health experts have stressed that getting vaccinated, and boosted, is key to protecting against severe illness.
People who are not fully vaccinated need to quarantine for a full 14 days after the last exposure to a person who tested positive, the CDC says.
Adi Shah, a Mayo Clinic infectious-disease consultant, said given concerns about the omicron variant, and the possibility of breakthrough infections, he would personally recommend that even vaccinated individuals take extra precaution by quarantining for five to seven days after exposure, and then taking a test on or after the fifth day.

I have heard several people over the last week talk about some sort of stomach virus that appeared to be unrelated to COVID.

Alyssa Fox who tested positive on her birthday which was a week ago but she tested negative twice in 24hrs so she is cleared. Hopefully the same happens with Christine since she is asymptomatic.

Lindsay tweeted she tested negative but has all the omicron symptoms which is like a bad head cold so she's been out. It's horrible. I couldn't breathe for 3 days then all of a sudden I was fine...without meds.

I know it's a radical thought, but since she tested negative, maybe she has a head cold. It IS flu and cold season. Covid isn't responsible for every malady under the sun, as the problems in the Company company prove - everyone just assumed it was Covid - and it wasn't.

Yeah. I read that last week. How did we go from being the lowest infected rate in NYC to the highest??"
Part of it is testing bias. Higher socioeconomic areas get tested more often during surges because for multiple reasons (better access to testing being a major one). There are high rates across the whole city but they’re being detected in high SES areas areas more. This is different from low periods of infection because high SES areas also have better access to preventative measures, which is partly why HK had one of the lowest rates citywide earlier.
That’s part of it. Another part is ongoing partying in small, indoor, sweaty venues.
Company posted on Instagram that they'll be going on tonight as planned, but knowing Patti's under the weather I thought it best to just postpone until Jan 5. Seeing Girl From the North Country instead.

Rereading her post from last night, I realize I probably misinterpreted it - the shows canceled yesterday had nothing to do with her being sick! Ah, well. Looking forward to Jan 5.

It was literally her tweet. People are testing negative at first signs of symptoms but then test positive 2 days later.
Does anyone know, since people who have recovered from Covid can still test positive weeks later, what is the protocol for people who return from their isolation? Do they still get tested and if so does a positive test still mean they can't perform?

Can’t answer the bulk of your questions but yes, if you get covid and recover you can test positive weeks later. A friend of mine had it in October 21 and then again tested positive about 2 weeks ago.

I work on Covid at my local public health department. Yes, someone can still test positive weeks (or even months) after their initial infection. It has to do with the tests still picking up "debris" from the Covid infection, even after the initial infection has been dealt with (I don't know all the science, but that's the gist).
According to the CDC, people can leave Isolation 10 days after either 1) symptom onset or 2) a positive test (for those who never had symptoms), assuming they've been fever free for at least 24 hours and symptoms are getting better.
In my county here in California, we really discourage negative testing for returning to work. It puts a strain on testing resources, and can force people out of work for much longer than needed. I don't know what Equity or individual theaters are following - despite the above CDC guidance, I occasionally hear of employers who insist on getting a negative test, which is truly a pain in the neck for everyone involved.
The CDC and NYS Health do not recommend asymptomatic Covid testing for 90 days after someone’s first positive test. This is because you can show a false positive for the following 80 days, even though you are non contagious after 10 days.

That picture made the rounds on social media yesterday. That's their cast for both shows today, too. Josh Breckenridge was their only standby to not go on.
