As Jessie Mueller finishes her run in Beautiful on Broadway tonight, Chilina Kennedy begins her run tomorrow! Is there anyone who's going to see Kennedy in the show soon?
Today's the day! To anyone who'll be attending the show today (or tonight), I'm looking forward to hearing full reports about Chilina & Jessica!

Chillina Kennedy was at the show last night and left through the stage door. Everyone cheered for her and she seemed genuinely taken aback by it and touched.
Did anyone rush this morning? I'm sure considering it's a Saturday and that most people might not realize that Jessie departed last night… but I'm wondering if the rush craziness will die down now that Jessie has left? Looks as if the show is still selling extremely well, so no question there! Just wondering about rush, in particular. Thanks!
I was at the show today, I thought Chilina was AMAZING!!!! IMO I thought she was better than Jessie. Her "Beautiful" was perfect! Don't let that fact that Jessie isn't in the show any more hold you back from seeing the show!

Glad you brought it up. I loved Ms. Mueller-just saw it last week. I thought her singing was a nice blend of sounding something like Ms. King and yet using her own voice. But her speaking voice puzzled me. My friend and I spoke about it at intermission and didn't know what to make of it. I've heard Ms. King speak and it doesn't really sound like what Ms. Mueller was doing. Was it to be a Brookkyn accent? I got used to it but I wonder why that choice.
It's funny because the first time I saw the show I saw understudy Rebecca LaChance as Carole and I was like yikes that accent! I thought Jessie's was better. I did feel like the accent faded a little as the show went on so maybe in the beginning it's more extreme to hammer home that she's a kid from Brooklyn?

I saw Katie Brayben (after having seen Jessie a few times) and that was my impression as well.

Yeah the more I think about it, the accent definitely faded which was a good thing. This was the case for both Rebecca & Jessie. If it hadn't it would have gotten in the way of the performance. That's not to say anyone is totally nailing this strong Brooklyn accent deal in the beginning, but I can forgive that.
