I have to say, if someone told me any production of Oklahoma might be playing at St. Ann's - without referring me to an official source - I might not have believed them. As it is I had to scan the headline a few times to make sure I wasn't reading it wrong. But hey, it sounds interested, and I trust St Ann's implicitly. I look forward to seeing it!
According to audition notice posted they are looking for a Laurey, so maybe Amber Gray not involved. The notice says Jud Fry, Aunt Eller, Gertie Cummings and Curly are already cast. Any educated guesses as to who has might be filling these roles?
Gray is tentatively attached to Hadestown which is trying to transfer in the fall.
Count me as not excited, Daniel Fish is one of the WORST directors I've ever seen, he directed one of the WORST shows I've ever seen in NYC called Home For Sale at The Duke.
Does Amber Gray have a hidden soprano voice I'm not aware of? I just read the NYT review of the show and it sounds super interesting. Anyone know if there's a naughty recording of this production when it played before?
I believe the score was largely rearranged as a folk score, so Amber wasn't singing soprano really. I heard that the music really stood out though and was able to shake some of the dust off of the show. Yeah, she's transfering with Hadestown. I guess it's coming in, in the fall which would make her unavailable for this.
