Ok, I don't know everything that is going on about this whole thing, I read Scarlets responce and Meredith's whatever. This is my take on it (it may be misguided so forgive me if it is.)
Yes, these people are "Names" and sell tickets. Yes, because they are cast in certain roles, other actors have one less chance to be on Broadway. However, do they not diserve to do theatre because they have done movies? What if the tables turned and Hunter Foster got offered a lead in a movie that was gaurenteed to make him a star, would he come back to broadway? All of the actors who won the tony, did they not diserve it? I have heard nothing but rave reviews about Scarlet, Denzel has done theatre in the past, Kelsey Grammer isn't what you would call an A list celeb, and Catherine Zeta Jones (who I personally don't agree with winning) still paid her dues. I mean this is the woman who when out, felt horrible about it. She along with all these other "Celeb actors" share this: The love of theatre. Why the hell would they be doing it if they didn't? They can't be getting paid millions a week!
