To be fair, the person that has a problem with the interview seems to be a nutjob...he started a facebook group to get Hunter and Jen to direct the Tonys. Puh-leeze!
Some of these people disgust me. I mean really, she isn't a "real actor" because she is famous? There is some raging jealousy going on here. Can't they just be happy for where they are? Hunter, if you wanted to be a "star" you should have went into film/t.v. Have respect for your fellow actors. Some people are celebrities for stupid reasons and don't really have much talent. Catherine, Scarlett, and Denzel do not fall into that category.
This disappoints me terribly. These actors that are "fighting" for lack of a better word, for this campaign are not really putting themselves in the best light. They are an extremely talented group of people like Jordan pointed out. I am sure many of us on here are huge fans and supporters of their work and some of us may even hope to tread the boards with them someday, but after reading all of the comments they have in regards to this, it has made me want to support them or even work with them less. Like mentioned earlier, isn't this a welcoming community? Shouldn't we all be gracious that people are willing to work on Broadway. That people want to stretch out and broaden their horizons and do some other type of work. I think these "movie stars" that come to work on Broadway should be highly praised for coming out here and showing that they are able to commit to a character 8 times a week and give great performances. I realize some "movie stars" may not give the best performances, but how many "Broadway stars" have done the same?? They are all doing something that they love and enjoy doing, so why would you not be open to accepting them and working with them? This all seems like a pointless argument. I don't even know what fueled it? Green Day's extra 5 minutes on the Tony Awards? What about Poison's stint? Where was the attention on that? All they are trying to do is get people to come see a Broadway show so these actors have continuous work.
that is my rant. sorry if it goes all over the place!
Ok, I don't know everything that is going on about this whole thing, I read Scarlets responce and Meredith's whatever. This is my take on it (it may be misguided so forgive me if it is.)
Yes, these people are "Names" and sell tickets. Yes, because they are cast in certain roles, other actors have one less chance to be on Broadway. However, do they not diserve to do theatre because they have done movies? What if the tables turned and Hunter Foster got offered a lead in a movie that was gaurenteed to make him a star, would he come back to broadway? All of the actors who won the tony, did they not diserve it? I have heard nothing but rave reviews about Scarlet, Denzel has done theatre in the past, Kelsey Grammer isn't what you would call an A list celeb, and Catherine Zeta Jones (who I personally don't agree with winning) still paid her dues. I mean this is the woman who when out, felt horrible about it. She along with all these other "Celeb actors" share this: The love of theatre. Why the hell would they be doing it if they didn't? They can't be getting paid millions a week!

Thank You J for posting this. And you hit the nail on the head, by mentioning the colleagues and producers they are alienating by standing on a soap box making fools out of themselves. Another instance of Broadway actors cutting of their nose to spite their face...
After all of the crap that's been posted on Facebook and that I've read on here, I really could give a sh*t if Green Day does a punk rock tribute to John Kander next season and if Renne Zellwegger presents Best Actor. Just keep Best Book and Best Score on the telecast, for the love of God.
Thanks for starting this thread with an eloquent post. I agree with every word -- and actually love it more than I love Chris Rockway.
Hunter needs to be quiet. Fast. Most of his recent outings on the stage (Frankenstein, Happiness, Million Dollar Quarter) and writing for other media (Rosie O'Donnell Live!) have received pretty awful reviews.
Hunter might want to know that plenty of people wonder how he and his God-not-her-again chorine wife get so much work. Maybe his sister buys them the roles?
And let me say publicly what a lot of people around town have been whispering -- Chris Sieber needs to shed more than a few pounds. He's not going to get those romantic/leading man roles with that spare tire. Well, maybe Hairspray. I'd much rather have seen someone play stick-thin Dan Savage in The Kid who is closer to the demeanor and physical appearance. Could it be that the casting directors wanted to go with a Broadway name like Chris Sieber instead of a thinner unknown actor?
Bitchy? Sure. But his public booing at CJZ opened the door.
Great post Jordan. This whole affair is absolutely disgusting.

I don't feel the least bit bad for her. These people are out of control, and they claim BWW is a bitter place? PLEASE.
I honestly have lost respect for, and have no desire to see any show that Hunter Foster, Jen Cody, Christopher Sieber, Natascia Diaz, and Meredith Patterson are in. Updated On: 6/20/10 at 07:52 PM
The thing what makes me laugh about Catherine been to Hollywood etc is that the poor woman did theatre here in the UK, its not likes shes just walked on to the stage because she thought it would be fun. I watched her in 42nd Street
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna
Yeah, I don't get how it's totally awful for someone on here to criticize Alice Ripley in N2N but it's totally fine for Chris Sieber to call CZJ a vulgar cow and say that she bought her award.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."
Scarlett was in an off-Broadway show in her youth. Not extensive experience or anything, but she has a stage background.
Also, I love how BWW has been so against this absurdity. If you had asked me about this situation, I thought so many people on this board would be praising Hunter, Sieber, etc. for all this.
"Well Mr. Baldwin, this is a pretty kettle of fish!" I've read the posts that people have submitted. While I can somewhat understand the actors' frustration, it doesn't do their cause any good when they lambast a particular actress or her win. After all,the TONY VOTERS did select the winners in each category? They made their choices, to the consternation of some. Name recognition does equal box office...whether it's on television, film or the stage. I really liked Chris Sieber in that groundbreaking tv series of a few years ago. So, he's had opportunities in tv and perhaps film. You don't really see longstanding tv actors launching a Facebook page to criticize Broadway actors who land tv and movie roles? It's the nature of the business. People get cast for any number of reasons. But, the ultimate factor in many cases is $$$. As for me, I'm still trying to figure out how Lauren Bacall has managed to secure two Tony Awards, with her ..."interesting" voice. Now that's a mystery to me. Hopefully, in time, cooler heads will prevail. Best of luck...to all. Roman in Austin, Texas

I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
Can someone tell me where in Every Little Step she is, because I watched it several times and don't notice her. I've noticed several others. Including that Natscia girl who was referenced to in the other thread. Or however you spell her name.
It's funny that all the women who didn't get Cassie in the ACL revival are the squeaky wheels in this controversy. hmmmm......
