I think Miranda could speak very eloquently for all the "Hollywood" Tony winners- "HATERS BACK OFF!!!"
Edit: Just read Meredith's blog-she is so misinformed and I can't believe she would write such hateful things about Catherine, including that her "sources" tell her that Catherine smokes like a chimney backstage. What a moron to tell tales out of school like that. Writing things like that will definitely hurt her-at least karma wise.
Good luck on getting that Olive Garden commercial Meredith. Maybe if you're nice to Michael Douglas he will buy it for you.

I would post a comment, but unlike like Ms. Patterson I have some tact and would never write a nasty note on a blog intended to keep people updated on her life. I'll remember that name though and I won't patronize her knowing what a sour grapes actress she is.

Oh how this makes me nostalgic for the classic KATE vs MEREDITH thread of yore.
Does anybody know how much Michael Douglas would have paid to get his wife a Tony? And to whom he would make out the check? I would love for Chris Sieber and Meredith Patterson to REALLY tell us what they know.

I could never post a comment, just couldn't do it. Ever. NEVER!
I wonder if a Lead Actress Tony costs more than a Featured Actress Tony.

I don't normally post. But I figured, why not.
What has ultimately made that facebook group ugly is that people have lost site of what theatre is about.
People decide to argue who deserved the award and who didn't. Saying Catherine doesn't deserve it because she essentially doesn't care about her job. We are forgetting that theatre is subjective. That's what makes it so beautiful. One performance from an actor can change someone's life while it has no effect whatsoever to someone sitting next to them watching the same performance. That is why everyone in the theatre community.
On the flip side, how subjective theatre is can be ugly. Especially if you're the performer giving your soul and posters feel like they have to ridicule the performance.
Theatre is subjective.

Posted: 6/20/10 at 5:25pmThis is just gross. Grow up. If people have spent this much time in the business and are still wondering how things like this transgress then they haven't been paying much attention. I wanna know how often Hunter checks that ridiculous group he set up.

Posted: 6/20/10 at 5:32pmI follow Meredith on Twitter, and she is good to respond to almost every tweet sent to her, so it might be possible to send her a link to this letter to the message-board via Twitter and she would at least see it and pass the word along to her friends. You may not get a response to this letter, especially if it is not to her liking, but she is most usually a very nice and warm person to communicate with.

What was the Kate vs. Meredith thread?
I would love to hear CZJ and Scarlett Johannson's reactions to this. They don't need to respond, in fact responding may just lower them to the level of Hunter and all of these others, but it would still be funny to hear.

I spoke to Scarlett on Friday night and she specifically addressed this and also sent me an e-mail later on that night with further thoughts on the topic. Check it out at the link below. The rest of the interview will be going up this week.
PS She is as smart, sharp and talented as she is beautiful.

Posted: 6/20/10 at 5:54pmGoodness, I was mad CZJ won because I don't think she deserved it. And as fake as I thought she came across during her acceptance speech, why would anyone think that she turned to Michael in shock because he bought it for her? If Montego Glover had won and turned to her date in shock at winning, would we assume that he bought the award for her, too?

Jordan, I completely agree with every single word.
I don't know about the rest of you, but this whole misguided and petty affair really disturbs me. I've always thought, and god knows they love to say it, that the Broadway community was welcoming to all, proud of its diverse backgrounds, and extremely altruistic. This is a community that I long to be a part of professionally, that I am working and striving toward as much as a 20-yr-old in acting school can.
And this "movement" completely flies in the face of that.
Hunter Foster, Chris Sieber, and Jen Cody were actors whose work I respected and who I have supported in the past. Not anymore.
It deeply saddens me that there is a facet of the Broadway community that embraces equality, charity, and being welcoming to all- except when it comes time for the accolades and walking down the red carpet. Why are you in this? For the love of the work or the love of recognition?
These "Hollywood actors" (as if all actors weren't the same) were giving some damn good performances- and nearly all were indebted to the theatre, and many consistently work in it. But you guys wouldn't be so quick to lash out at people like Nathan Lane or Kristin Chenoweth, who have had crossover appeal in both screen and stage, would you?
...and I didn't even want CZJ to win the Tony. I was rooting for Sherie.
If they wanted to make a difference they should boycott the Tony Awards. ...but they wouldn't do that, would they?
