i do feel bad for people that work there. shows are getting cancelled and, of course, there's no sympathy or compensation from Dumpster.

Legally Blonde production postponed.

Postponed to Spring 2029!
Yessssssss
Jeffrey Finn’s statement about why it was canceled is weird: “To be clear, this is not a Kennedy Center cancellation, and this is not due to any one person or persons involved with the show.”
So… why was it canceled, then?
Technically, it wasn't cancelled just postponed.
There is a lot of bluster and non-answers in the press about the “postponement” of the Legally Blonde production. I think it is quite possible that Larry O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin did not want the production to move forward, but I think it is even more likely that once Legally Blonde started being advertised as “the fabulous feminist classic musical”, its days weee numbered, even if Jeffrey Finn claims it was not cancelled by the Trump administration.
I hope more rights holders pull their license and start not answering the phone when they call looking to putting on their shows.

Anyone who wants to work at the Kennedy Center under this repulsive administration needs to have their heads examined.

Something I'm sure no Actor has ever dealt with before, it's a very stable Mon-Friday 9 to 5 career choice I've heard.
Plenty of other theatres in DC they can perform at. You create policies people don't care to perform under then guess what? They're not gonna wanna perform there! Consequences for actions. There are plenty of rights holders long since dead with Estates just greenlighting any production to keep money rolling in, put on one of their shows and anybody who wants to perform in them can do so.

The Oak Effect is strong around here.
Not just the actors, but the orchestra, crew, production staff (of any show that could have run there), and nearby businesses will all be affected. Yes there are other DC theatres, but space is space and it’s not unlimited. Theatres can also get booked for events that aren’t performances (conferences and graduations etc) so we can’t just presume availability exists.

And...? So they should be grateful to play a theatre whose administration actively tells them that they see them (and their friends and family) as less than nothing? Any loss of sales going to the theatre and surrounding businesses lay firmly at the Administration's feet just like the looming recession and worse.
Well, according to Trump & co, the KC is a rat-infested dump that smells like vomit, so why should anyone work there in the first place?

I think his press release could hide the real reason -- the statement mentions it's "not due to any one person or persons involved with the show" -- which may be so, considering the plot deals with a strong female character finding her way, bucking the old boys club, spreading joy and justice, and looking fabulous while doing it...

Well...it has recently come out that Finn the Musical was NOT cancelled by Kennedy Center, and instead was scuttled because of poor finances. So it's possible that Jeffrey's statement on Legally Blonde is meant to make plainly clear that this was not the Kennedy Center censoring art, because he doesn't want to be in the same boat as the team behind the kids musical who have now been caught in a lie.

Do you have a link to an article or statement regarding this. I did a search and can't find anything.
After yesterday's announcement about Legally Blonde, I emailed to request a refund of my remaining tickets in my subscription [Legally Blonde and Parade], but per the email response I received I'll only be getting the refund for Legally Blonde. The email stated that since Parade is still scheduled to go on as planned, they will not be issuing any refunds if you request them given the state of things.
I fully understand why they're doing it this way and while I'm not thrilled about it, I'll just bide my time until Parade likely gets cancelled as well.
What a disappointing end to a really wonderful season and sad to see what the Orange Buffoon is doing to this once prestigious place.

I found this article from Forbes about the cancellation of Finn. The article states that the show could have been interrupted as having LGBT themes according to the creators.
Forbes article about Finn The Musical
It’s hard to take “financial reasons” seriously when you’re dealing with a nonprofit organization. Finn and Eureka Day would have already been allotted funds via donations to the KC prior to production.
