The show features adultery, a crush on a relative, back room deals and it ends with an immigrant being shot.
What’s not for him to love??"
LOL. But everyone knows that lying trash has never seen Hamilton. That thing doesn’t have the attention span to sit through a Broadway show.

I suspect that Trump's interest in The Kennedy Center is for its real estate potential. The more he talks about it, the more it sounds like he wants to bulldoze the place and start over so it can be the Trump Center. Perhaps selling off a portion of the site for "private development", like a Trump hotel. Every time I try to convince myself that he can't do that, he does something that reminds me that he has no respect for the law, intrenational treaties, or the Constitution, and no one in D.C. has the testicular fortitude to stand up to him. This man wants to invade Canada and Greenland so he can steal their natural resources. The Kennedy Center is small potatoes.
I doubt that Trump has ever seen Hamilton in its entirety, or any other recent Broadway show, for that matter. His objection to Hamilton is probably because there are not enough waspy people in the cast. I cannot imagine his short list of Kennedy Center honorees, but we can probably look forward to "The Kennedy Center Honors Ted Nugent" at some point.

His objection to it is the creator has openly stated how much he despises him since he did literally nothing for the citizens of Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria, and when he thought that the brilliant Brandon Victor Dixon violently disrespected his former VP when he was attending a performance in Manhattan by reading a speech Lin wrote when he got wind he was in attendance that day.
Also, sociopathic violent rapists tend not to attend theater since they fundamentally cannot understand culture, joy, or love.

He will ONLY name people who will say yes. And he can honor ANYONE in the world he wants. That's a limitless cesspool of losers.

I’m sure it’s way too late in the game for Les Mis to drop out. Hamilton cancelled their run a year in advance, LM is in less than three months.

Hamilton had a valid reason for dropping out, with Lin hating trump and all that, but as far as i've seen, les mis couldn't really blame it on that so they would just look stupid. also the show isn't extraordinarily inclusive, or "woke"... also i was planning on buying a ticket, so i really hope they dont cancel

Agreed.
Scott Baio, Mel Gibson, Sylvester Stallone, Jim Caviezel, Zachary Levi, Dennis Quaid, Amber Rose, Russell Brand, Rob Schneider, Roseanne Barr, Kid Rock, Kevin Sorbo, James Woods, Hulk Hogan, Trace Adkins, Jon Voight, Dean Cain, Lee Greenwood, Tim Allen, Gary Busey, Kelsey Grammer, Chuck Norris, etc, etc. A virtual cavalcade of ghouls.

these honorees would also need performers to show up and do their tributes for them. that could see some solid backlash.

It's not. It may be too late in the game for them to drop out without facing financial penalties. But it's not too late for everyone just to decide not to show up, obviously. And frankly that's what's called for.

This is the man who gave Rush Limbaugh the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
He wants ways to reward those who are loyal, and he in particular likes flaunting the office and power of the presidency to do so.

If you haven't seen Harvey's recent post on social media, here's one of the reasons why I adore him:
I have been banned from THE KENNEDY CENTER.
A few folks have written to ask how I feel about Trump's takeover of The Kennedy Center. How do you think I feel? The shows I've written are now banned from being performed in our premiere American theater. Those shows, most of which have been performed there in the past, include, KINKY BOOTS. LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, TORCH SONG TRILOGY, HAIRSPRAY, SAFE SEX, CASA VALENTINA, SPOOKHOUSE, A CATERED AFFAIR, THE SISSY DUCKLING, BELLA BELLA and more.
I have been in the struggle for our civil rights for more than 50 years only to watch them snatched away by a man who actually couldn't care less. He does this stuff only to placate the religious right so they'll look the other way as he savages our political system for his own glorification.
He attacks free speech
He attacks the free press.
He attacks America's allies.
His only allegiance is to himself - the golden calf.
My fellow Americans I warn you - this is NOT how it begins.
This is how freedom ENDS!
Trump may have declared "woke" as dead in America.
We must prove him wrong.
WAKE THE HELL UP!!!!!

Oh please!! If Trump can call Kamala Harris a piece of “sh*t” then a few hundred people can boo JD Vance and his wife. Get over it.

Oprah once said, “were you silent, or were you silenced?” I’d rather be silenced.

Trump met with the Kennedy Center Board, and he mentioned he does not like the choices in the last 10 years, too many leftist liberals. He wants to host the television show himself. He also wants to cancel the contract with CBS and put it up for bid. AND he wants awards to include businessmen and politicians, not just artists.
So he clearly wants to make the awards about him. The only thing he has not proposed yet is changing the name to the Trump Awards.

No surprise. Everything he touches turns to sh*t. He soiled the White House, now the LC. Again, shocking to witness the U.S. sink in real-time.

Hopefully you are right. I don’t have a lot of faith these days but it would be amazing if that were to happen…although I do worry what sort of retaliation and harsh reality they may face with that.

Ideas for Les Miserables when it gets there:
Change the setting to Ukraine. And have lots of Ukrainian flags everywhere.
Work in some lines about how the poor people are starving because USAID funding was cut.
Make up Fantine to look like Stormy Daniels.
And so on. Heavyhanded, sure, but heavyhandedness is the only thing that goon understands.

Leaked audio of meeting details Trump's suggestions
Kennedy Center Awards will be changed "to push back against the influence on the event from “radical left lunatics.”
Casino Owner/Trump's donor Steve Wynn named as potential honoree, as well as Celine Dion, Sylvester Stallone, Johnny Mathis and Andrea Bocelli. Trump apparently also brouught up notable dead people Luciano Pavarotti, Elvis Presley and Babe Ruth.

It might be appropriate to rename the center “Branson, Missouri East” after they’re done.

Could Lloyd-Webber block his shows from being performed there? That would certainly make a statement.
I feel so sorry for the folks working at The Kennedy Center. They don't deserve any of this. It must be incredibly stressful.

I’m kind of shocked Actors Equity still hasn’t made a statement about his comments regarding equity performers.
