Turning the Kennedy Center from "Woke" to White? - EBONY
The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts website states it is "a true ‘artistic mecca,’ and one of the world’s most respected organizations." But how can it be one if its sitting board all share the same views, one that has no space for diversity, inclusion and innovation?

Not surprised, but the Gay Men's Chorus performance on May 21st has been cancelled.

that entire piece rests on an absurd premise ... 47 doesn't actually give a fig about the Kennedy Center and (unless he can work a grift) he's not gonna lift a finger to fundraise for it.

Trump wants to destroy this place, it is going to function in a half abused state until the wheels totally fall off and he knocks it down to build a hotel or some nonsense

I know you're talking about the KC, but you might as well be talking about the country altogether. We're just short time away from living in the full blown fascist state. Trump just sold down the river Ukraine and all of our European allies. Poland 1938 textbook. History quite literally repeats itself in front of our eyes and it seems nobody cares.

Don't drop the soap!
They cancelled the Gay Men's Chorus but then kinky Grenell is bringing in a group of tatted G4P hoors?
This reads like the plot from a bad MEN porn scene.
Who's got the poppers?

The bright side is that the SNL sketch will basically write itself.

So the Kennedy Center is basically being turned into a Nazi theater for him and his MAGA supporters.

Which you knew when he announced he was taking over? This should shock no one.
They rely mostly on subscriptions, ticket sales, and merch. Everyone needs to boycott them. There are incredible venues around DC that everyone can support and feel good about.

It would be wise for all the currently scheduled national tours to work on rescheduling those Kennedy Center dates for a different venue now while there's still time simply because they have no way of knowing whether or not it will be decided at the last minute that they won't be allowed to perform their show at the Kennedy Center.

The takeover of the Kennedy Center is definitely disturbing and ripped right from the Nazi playbook of asserting control over culture.
However, the upside is that the KC has never really been a leader of culture or the arts in America in the sense of influence. Taking it over is symbolic and a frightening symbol at that- especially as LGBT content is canceled and things of that nature- but at the end of the day, nobody is taking cues from the Kennedy Center on what to program or produce. A successful play on Broadway or at a notable off-Broadway company will be produced nationwide as soon as possible, for instance.
Ironically, the Right's prevention of more government support of the arts has created an arts culture that is decentralized and not under government influence or control. Hopefully, that has created enough independence for our nation's cultural institutions to withstand the MAGA assault.

Very good point, and here’s hoping. Conversely, the KC is dependent upon its board raising revenue to sustain the center as well as subscription sales. The board (and its biggest donor, the former president of the board) are out and subscriptions are sure to fall precipitously. The J6ers, Lee Greenwood, Kid Rock and Angela Blue may not have a venue to perform in.
