Debating grabbing a ticket for Julie this Saturday.
If the reviews for Feldstein are that bad, do they look to replace her? Sales are still very strong for the show, but maybe by the Fall?

"Feldstein gives a spirited, highly enjoyable performance, and her freshness drew squeals of appreciation from what seemed like a large contingent of very vocal young female fans on a recent press night. But she never quite makes the material soar, and this is a rickety vehicle that needs a supernova to put gas in its tank."

She was given the part so no, but I think they will announce an alternate soon. Maybe she can be on 4 or 5 days a week. I fully suspect her to be gone by Fall anyways and replaced because she probably signed a 6 month contract.
The revival was mounted for Beanie via private funding therefore she will not be replaced even if a few of the 2,000 producers of the revival want this. She’s on a pay-for-play contract as well. The show will continue as is as long as ticket sales are steady.

It's also possible she signed a full YEAR contract.
Doubtful since she's so Hollywood and also....no one wants that.
If anything, Benko would become the alternate.
Didn't Feldstein call out a lot during Dolly?
If they created a scenario in which there is an alternate in the role of Fanny, it would not necessarily be Julie Benko. They could bring in someone else to alternate the role and keep her as strictly the standby.
Example, the actor alternating Christine in PHANTOM twice a week is not the standby.

I don’t know how much of that was calling out vs Rudin giving her time off to attend all the LADY BIRD festivals and red carpet events and whatnot around the country. Since he produced both.

I saw DOLLY 27 times and Beanie never missed a performance I attended. Of course she was replaced when her contract was up.
"Yet Feldstein’s performance is only occasionally compelling. For all the lovely tone to her voice, there is little distinctive about her song delivery, especially in the ballads. And while she’s a game actress, there was nothing about her timing or physical clowning that shouted out: Comic genius. There are only so many geniuses in the world, and Feldstein may have the opportunity during this open run to improve. This doesn’t mean attaining perfection. What we can hope for is something imperfect, but singular, the earmark of some of our most beloved stars." NY Theater

what does `pay-for-play` mean?
Pay-for-play is when an actor still gets paid for their full contract even if they close the show early, fire them, or make their role smaller. They still get paid the full amount they were contracted for and for the full term.

"The revival’s sets are something to really marvel at and I wish the cast could’ve been less distracting in their brilliant performances so that I could really take in all of the aspects of Henry Street, the Follies, and the fine restaurant backroom that Nicky woos Fanny in. The turntable was a stroke of genius on behalf of this production, allowing them to keep things constantly moving as set pieces were flown into scene transitions." Collider
Turntable. Okay.

Welp. So far these are some of the best reviews Streisand's ever received.

Yes, because what people really want to see in a first-rate production of "Funny Girl" is a stellar turntable and damn that brilliant cast for daring to distract anyone of its many wonders!!! How dare they?!?!?!?!!
W in the AF - that review is NOT to be taken seriously. What a joke!
Maggie from Collider sounds like someone who's never seen a Broadway show before, and was just thrilled to be there.

Well I think these reviews are making it clear that the Tony is going to be between Clarke and Lenk.
“I question how Feldstein could even be cast as Fanny in a high school or theater camp production.”
