Love this one - never heard of this site ...though
Badsinging, Disappointing, Excruciating
See it if You want to spend over $200 to sit in the last row in the highest balcony and listen to nasally, screechy, off pitch singing.
Don't see it if You have anything better to do, like staying home to make toast.
Also I love Beanie and she plays the comedic part of the role wonderfully - but she does not have the voice for this role. Fanny Brice has to SING. If she can’t sing, the show doesn’t work…
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
But her singing is as studied and limited as her scene work. She has a thin, nasally voice that no amount of manipulation by sound designer Brian Ronan can coax into sonic depth. I don’t mean that Feldstein sings badly—she can belt a button or smolder in the gentler numbers—but she doesn’t let the music flow through her or show lyrics popping into her head.
I saw the show again last night and was just dumbstruck with the obvious problems that my excitement to finally see a production live at that first preview, had obviously blinded me to. That’s never happened to me before. I still think she’s very funny in most of her book scenes but really that’s about it, for me. I left last night more confused than anything else. Anyways, I’m very much looking forward to seeing Julie next week.

Same here - seeing Julie Benko next Sunday!

Sunday in the Park with George
The NYTheater review kinda says the show is not good enough, especially when comes down to Fanny needing Nick that much. They say Beanie nails the 3 songs most popular tho.

I appreciate you posting this. I bought my tickets after that first post of yours. But let me tell you that despite the show I had a great night out.
I'm glad that second review actually looked honestly at the show. For all the screaming about the lead actress, I've always been confused as to why this show is so loved. It has a few good songs and a wobbly book to put it best, but the musical feels like less of a good musical and more of a moment in Barbra Streisands career.
I remember watching the Sheridan Smith production here in the UK and just thinking 'wow, the book is weak and the songs boring bar a few'
It reminded me so much of Mack and Mabel, your memory of the show is far better than it actually is, but some of the songs are great.
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna
