"Stewie singing "I have confidence""
When is this? YouTube?

I still have to go with Peter's re-imagining of The King and I as my favorite.
"You are the WORST thing to happen to musical theatre since Andrew Lloyd Webber!!!"
Also love the episode with Olivia and Stewie at the theatre school.
"Nice effort Brad, but let's remember our performance hierarchy: legitimate theatre, musical theatre, stand-up, ventriloquism, magic, mime."
"Shut up! It's been 29 years!!!" --the incomparable Patti LuPone in her MUCH DESERVED Tony acceptance speech for Gypsy.

There's also an episode where Peter says something along the lines of "This is even worse than the time we went to see 'The Phantom of the Opera'". It then cuts to Peter & Lois at TPOTO. The Phantom is singing some made-up song ("Music is the gift I give to you...") to Christine, & then Peter shouts out, "Take off your mask! I wanna see the gross half of your face so we can get outta here! Lemme see your piggy nose!"
There's also an episode that was on a few nights ago with a reference to West Side Story. Peter complains about not fitting in, and then it shows him dancing with The Jets. He stumbles & falls, & asks when they're gonna "rumble with those greasy Sharks". Another gang member tells him, "Not without four years of ballet and two of jazz-tap!"

I also remember one episode in which Peter runs over one of the CATS with his car, mid-performance.

In the episode where Chris becomes a famous avant-garde artist, there's a spoof of Everything's Coming Up Roses.
Another of my favorites, from the King and I episode: There's a quick clip of Brian auditioning by singing If Ever I Would Leave You. That was the moment when I fell in love with Seth MacFarlane's voice. Damn, that man has a sexy, sexy voice...
re: Family Guy Musical References#31
Posted: 12/14/07 at 1:49amnot Broadway but the episode where Stewie replaces Jerry the Mouse and dances "on film" with Gene Kelly from "Anchors Aweigh."

Seth MacFarlane has said that he has the CD collection of an 80 year old man.
I'm not sure if it was FG or the simpsons but some cartoon character once said "If you want to go see a bad show, see RENT" or something to that effect.
There was also a Trolley Song reference on American Dad.

Posted: 12/14/07 at 11:06amI not only love this show for the musical references, but for the references to some of my favorite movies - Back to the Future, Monty Python and the Meaning of Life, etc...

he actually said once the only reason he'd ever do a Family Guy movie is so it could have lots of musical numbers.

Posted: 12/14/07 at 11:42amThe episode where Stewie goes to Performing Arts Camp. He's teamed up with a little girl, and they do a vaudeville routine. Later, when she leaves him go do a solo act, he says, "Go ahead - I'm better off without you, Bebe No-worth!"

Not FG, but on American Dad, when Stan finds out that Francine is a surrogate for two gay men, he goes to fight with them, and they put on the West Side Story music to "rumble".
"Stop dancing so I can hit you! This fight is unbearably campy!"

I like Stewie and Brian's "The Road to Rhode island".
"Like a Newport masochist... we're Rhode Island bound!"
"Like a bunch of college freshmen who couldn't get into Harvard and had to settle for Brown... we're Rhode Island bound!"
re: Family Guy Musical References#41
Posted: 12/14/07 at 9:28pmSo... no one else would like to see MacFarlane write a musical?
"Leave Walt Disney Theatricals new sparkling production of The Little Mermaid on Broadway alone!!!"
lakezurich will be played by Paul Groves in the BWW musical

Posted: 12/14/07 at 9:40pmThe one where the kids sing, "So Long, Farewell," (or whatever it's called from the Sound of Music) was on tonight. What a coincidence! I didn't realize that the ep was the same one as the Black Night and the jousting. What an awesome episode.

Posted: 12/14/07 at 10:55pmOne of my favorites is a parody of "Everything's Coming Up Roses" that Peter sings about Meg.

re: Family Guy Musical References#45
Posted: 12/15/07 at 1:03amMost of them have been hit, but there is the episode where all the kids are doing toad and Peter goes to the school undercover as a teenager and he does a Grease spoof of "You're The One That I Want"

Chris, I have the Live in Vegas album. (How great is Slightly Out of Tune?)
This isn't FG, but same guy behind it: American Dad parodied "Dance Ten, Looks Three." I forget what they changed it to, though.
Which episode was this?? I've seen them all, but I don't remember this...I'll have to go back and watch this episode again.
Another of my favorites, from the King and I episode: There's a quick clip of Brian auditioning by singing If Ever I Would Leave You. That was the moment when I fell in love with Seth MacFarlane's voice. Damn, that man has a sexy, sexy voice...
Rose, I couldn't agree with you more. He should release his own album.
I remember days
Or at least I try
But as years go by
They're sort of haze
And the bluest ink
Isn't really sky
And at times I think
I would gladly die
For a day of sky

Posted: 12/15/07 at 11:17pmSeth has a good voice, but I'm sick of him making musical numbers just so he has an excuse to sing.

Posted: 12/15/07 at 11:22pmI'll never forget the creepy old man singing "Somewhere That's Green". I laughed so hard it hurt.
