I would imagine thàt eventually the children will have less than 8 shows a week but that would be more likely to occur after the Tony's. And I also believe that as Sydney will probably be the only child in possible tony contention, the boys would be more likely to Sub out first. I would not be surprised to see swing Gabby Pizzolo first perform as one of the brothers.
Is she the only understudy for all three of them? I remember looking in the program and thinking that seemed odd to me.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
After reading some of the reviews on here and listening to the cast recording/score it has been decided that on my trip to NYC in June the one spot I have available for a show will be going to Fun Home. I had been debating between this or Finding Neverland or Something Rotten, but simply put, Fun Home takes it.
Yes Gabby has already cut her hair so she can be either boy or girl here. Actually she looks quite a bit like the older boy in real life and when he came out the other night, I had to look close to make sure it wasn't her.
After seeing the 4th preview Sunday night, I returned tonight, and was really surprised with how many changes they've made throughout the week.
*Spoilers...kind of?*
It is mostly in the middle of the show. There's some new blocking before Maps, they use some of the trap doors differently, and Alison now sits on the steps of the 400 section instead of behind her desk. There was also (what I believe to be) a new musical section when Sydney Lucas talks about not wanting to wear the dress to the party; she kind of sang it, and the music was under it to the tone of "Telephone Wire," and she sang, "I like boys shirts and pants." The car scene with the dad and his student is no longer on top of the tv down by the band, but instead on top of the door frame like how they use it for the diner. There were also other little blocking changes throughout. There's also no random staircase that Bruce enters through in the house reveal.
Tonight was very clearly "in process" as the new changes were being put into place. Im interested to see what they have when they freeze the show.
I saw the matinee today and this show destroyed me. There truly is no better show anywhere right now. It's so rare when a show ends and the entire audience unanimously jumps to their feet, but this show more than deserved the ovation they received today.
I need a few days to sit alone with the cast recording and process this one. But, man. That was an experience I'll never forget.
Finally caved and bought my ticket for this Wednesday. I've been listening to the recording for months, and I cannot wait to see this.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
I cannot wait. I go over my spring break... In about a week and a half. Sorry to hear they cut "al for short".
I saw it at the Public and I loved it. Someone said it "destroyed" them a bit back... Jordan Catalono. That's the only way I could describe the experience for me. I fell apart at the end. Big, blubbery tears. I'm a crier, but this just annihilated me. Maybe because I'm so close with my dad. I just lost it.
Also was at the matinee today. Holy sh*t. This is what the theater is all about.
Judy Kuhn is devastating. I thought she was wonderful downtown, but I guess being closer, I got to see the anguish in her eyes so vividly. "Days and Days" is even more of a highlight than it was before.
Everyone and everything is improved, if that's possible. The staging is remarkable-- engrossing and inventive.
I saw the show on Thursday. I first saw it at The Public. There's nothing to say that hasn't been said. This is a special show. It's that simple.
I think the adjusted staging adds to everything. I like the placements of adult Alison's desk on the stage...it makes adult Alison feel more like a lead. She's watching over it all. The use of the traps during the show is effective. It just works.
Judy Kuhn sounds amazing during Days and Days, but the entire cast is amazing. Michael Cervaris again proves why he's always in demand and this is his finest work in years. Sydney Lucas as young Alison is giving such a great performance in such a demanding role. When I think of young actors that have given away winning performances recently, she's heads and tails above them.
Was also their this afternoon and nothing really to add that hasn't already been said, it's was glorious, heartbreakly brilliant
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.

I think the whole score is great, but for me, the standout is "Telephone Wire." Her final "Say something..." is heartbreaking, particularly Beth Malone's delivery. (I actually think the song SHOULD be called "Say Something", but I'm not one of the authors.)
