I was there tonight too. It was very funny and kinda stupid in a SPAMALOT kind of way. Does it triumph their previous outing? No. Does it keep your attention for 2 hours? Not always. Will you definitely find yourself cackling at how these two play off each other? Absolutely!!!
Betty Who as the guest was kind of cool and I was curious as to how they got her since HADESTOWN normally has a Sunday night show. I was actually sitting a few rows behind her and there is a stagehand who runs up to them with the props just before the end - they were sitting in F or G114. Granted, it took a minute for me to realize who it actually was because I couldn’t hear her name said and the only tip off I had was the Australian accent. (She had hair like Hannah Waddingham and was dressed like Jane Lynch so I was thrown).

Tomorrow's guest is clearly going to be Idina based on their tease post today, which rounds out the Frozen cast guest appearances as Groff & Bell have already appeared.
This is a little random, but has there been any discussion about filming this show? It feels like the sort of thing that could play well on Netflix in the same way something like Oh, Hello did.
Are cast making calls to friends or is this something the PR office is doing?
Would love to know the logistics"
My guess is Josh & Andrew are personally inviting everyone they wish to invite, and then they pass it off to show management to finish out logistics. And if they don't personally know the people they want, the press team would seek them out.
And Kevin, I was thinking the same as Oh, Hello, but that boils down to "two-man comedy show with a special guest most every night" - I'm seeing it today so I can't compare more than that. But they're following the same pattern as OH so it makes sense at face value!

As much as I would love this, I think Kroll and Mulaney's names are what convinced Netflix to pick the show up. Not sure Gad and Rannells have the same draw

I wonder if any performers will be expecting a call that doesn't come. Plus, do we all have favourite performers who we hope will appear, but we kinda know there's a good chance they won't?
As an update to my previous post - I've now seen the show and found it hilarious. The comments about the songs being bad or forgettable...that's...sort of the point? They have not written a good show. They were very funny terrible songs.
An aside - there was a family of 4-5 (mom/dad and at least 3 teen girls) in the 3rd row who made a lot of commotion the entire show, repeatedly getting up and sprinting up the aisle to presumably the bathroom or concessions, and at one point their extremely tall dad was up and crouched over looking for something and Andrew finally interrupted the show to ask what they lost and if it wasn't a child to settle the f*ck down, to which the audience laughed for quite a good while.
Idina was in fact the producer tonight - she sang her big Defying Gravity riff (which Josh had sung earlier in the show - not sure if that's always in one of his songs or if he did it because she was there (also curious if his reference to "songs sung terribly by teen girls in the shower" is always there, too, or if it was added given Idina's history with such songs), made sure everyone knew she's a Tony winner and a Disney Queen, and offered them a Broadway Contract from Adele Dazeem Productions.

I was also at the show tonight and that family that caused the commotion was at the state door and when Andrew came out and saw them he gave them quite the earful on their behavior. They laughed at first thinking it was a joke but he said he was very serious and their behavior was extremely rude. That shut them up and one of the girls looked like she was about to cry according to my daughter. Besides that the show was lots of fun and we were thrilled to see Idina as the producer.

Good!! They were beyond distracting and clearly folks who needed to learn a lesson.
And, thanks Taffy! Those jokes worked well tonight, considering.

That's amazing. Imagine being so horrible and disruptive the entire show, and then have the audacity to stage door. Wow.
I'm glad they finally got Idina. I was surprised she didn't do it around the time of Wicked20. And now they've had the entire Frozen cast except Santino. I truly hope someone does a detailed story about this casting process and how it all comes together. I was fortunate to be seated behind the guest producer when I went so I saw them hand him the hat and contract and then tell him when to get up.
It would be a nice touch if they actually got one of Gutenberg!’s lead producers to hand Bud and Doug their Broadway contract on closing night. Surprised that didn’t happen first preview.
Huey Lewis would be a nice one too, considering the Jones’s next tenant.

I could also see them using the Producer gag to announce whoever is playing the lead of Tammy Faye, assuming of course Rannells is staying on that show when it transfers.

I was there too! Just a wild experience, Josh handled it well with the joke about his "personal secret".
As for the special producer, I think it'd be hilarious to get Tony Shalhoub and his comment be about the evil Monk or something.

They already kind of did this, J.J Abrams was one of the first guest producers and his company Bad Robot is a lead producer on ths show.
Having a guest star every night can be gimmicky and logistically challenging, but like we saw with OH HELLO and their "tuna" recipient, it can be an unending source of social media content (and occasional press content too) for a comedy like this & helps keep people engaged. They've done a great job with this.
