My friend you will be missed But now go with dignity This ends but first on our list You can go with pride You’ve been the best looking dude we’ve had all day You’re a real smart dude as well Now go home and spell Give you squeeze some affection Come on make a connection Spell with patience and care That dude is my prayer
Spelling Bee is such a fun show. I remember going to it on my second trip to NY (I've had MANY since then), and just laughing so hard!!! I knew right then that I had to keep up with Broadway more than I had been in the past and see a ton of Broadway shows.
I remember being doubled over while watching Jesse Tyler's Leaf for the first time and very touched by the "I Love You Song" I was Marigold Coneybear not once, but TWICE on Broadway. Exactly my type of participation - no speaking or singing required!
I think it is such a clever and touching show. I'll be sad to walk by Wicked and not see "the little show that could" right there. Under-rated in my opinion.
Congrats on a GREAT run Spelling Bee!
Edited--- thanks to SNL!
So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?
I am going to miss this show so much. I have many fond memories of sitting in the front row via lottery tickets and enjoying the original Broadway cast members' hilarious and endearing portrayals numerous times.

SNL - you're right! Sorry it's late!! And all these closings are blowing my mind! LOL

In memory of SPELLING BEE, gypsy4, make it a resolution this year to learn how to SPELL.

SPELLING BEE, you are a show with three times the heart of WICKED, playing in an underground theatre 1/3 the size of the Gershwin. You will be missed. Talk about one hell of a show!
Please don't say that, you nearly gave me a heart attack.
But, I do love Spelling Bee. When I first got serious about collecting CDs, I went to this one first (it was just released), and now three years later I've seen it twice (once B'way, once tour) and will miss it very much. The crap upstairs doesn't deserve to keep thriving...
I'm so glad I got to see this when it came around to LA -- the original cast was great, of course. But the show itself was so incredibly funny and charming and sweet. It's one of my favorite shows and definitely one of my favorite theater-going memories. I'm sad to see it close.

One of my favorite shows. All the best to the extremely talented cast in whatever they do in the future. I saw the show five or six times and can honestly say there was never a time where I was bored by the show or any cast member. It will be missed.
I'm so glad I could've seen this show before it closed. I can't wait for regional productions. This is one of the best shows on Broadway and it will be sorely missed.
Bye Spelling Bee! [IMG]
You must think I'm still sixteen.
I dropped out of high school for a reason.
And I don't care if you're pretty. I'm not admitting you are right.
My soul is not a stage.
I won't pretend I'm anything I'm not

I'm thinking about legally changing my name to Lizzie Curry...
This show will truly be missed. I hope the best for its future in regional runs and for this amazing cast, who deserve every new project that comes their way.
Goodbye to a show that really had the most heart on Broadway....
