If you watch Maddie Baillio's Instagram story (when you open her profile on the app, you just click and hold on her profile photo) she has snippets of her recording sessions for the soundtrack album.
Sad that Big Doll House isn't in it- really love that number, but PUMPED that 'Velma's Revenge' made the cut!!! It's not on the OBC Recording nor in the 2007 film, so a professionally recorded version of the song is super exciting!!
was it ever actually confirmed that Big Dollhouse isn't in the TV version? just because it's not on the soundtrack doesn't mean it won't be in the show, the regular Grease Live soundtrack didn't have the reprise of Sandra Dee and a few other songs.
"Contentment, it seems, simply happens. It appears accompanied by no bravos and no tears."
The Broadwayworld article says that the recording features all the songs performed in the broadcast, but that might not be accurate. I really don't understand why they would have Big Doll House in the broadcast but not on the recording as it is a big song though.
I am assumimg Penny's outfit will be altered . Since she spends most of the show under her mother's control. No way Prudy would allow her in that short a skirt. Lol
Lake & Winokur but no Blonsky? Sucks for Nikki. Blonsky recently did a movie(DOG YEARS), so I wonder if she wasn't available
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
DOG YEARS finished filming months ago and is in post-production. HAIRSPRAY: Live! is currently in full mode off-the-book dress rehearsal now plus Nikki would only be doing a cameo which she can literally learn her camera blocking in 30 minutes tops. It's not like she'd be playing a lead role. Her non-involvement definitely merits curiousity and definitely fuels many alleged rumors about her and her work ethics.
"Hairspray" with it's positive message of racial integration, all inclusiveness and equanimity is just what this country needs right about now. This live broadcast could not have come at a better time.
And what of Blonsky's "work ethics?" I'd think being in the company of John Travolta, Christopher Walken, Queen Latifah, and Michelle Pfeiffer would be quite humbling, but...
With all due respect to Blonsky, HAIRSPRAY was her first professional film gig. The alleged rumors about her work ethic began on the film projects post-HAIRSPRAY. I'm sure she was a doll and quite a delight during production of HAIRSPRAY.
Anyone else think some of the 'magic' of a live broadcast is lost when we see such polished promos beforehand? I mean why not just film it and broadcast it? They're giving away too much.
