A LOT is going to depend on those reviews for Something Rotten and Finding Neverland. A lot. Besides reviews, at the very least, The Visit will get a nomination out of respect for its creators and star.
The negative things people say about Honeymoon have to do with its lack of box office success. Which is not an opinion.
No one disagrees that the show got generally favorable reviews.
Many people have posted about how they liked the show - or elements of the show.
I don't think people would be surprised if it received a Best Musical nomination - depending on the quality of the several shows left to open - and whether there are 4 or 5 nominations. There is the oft-rumoured impact of touring producers/presenters/theatres.
But a Best Musical nomination has not worked recently to save struggling shows. It's got to be a win.
>>and guess what? I was right. And people didn't just say what they should do. People flat out said that they would be closing like a month ago. WRONG!<<
I'm not going to go back through this thread - but my general impression is that hardly anyone said the show "would be closing".
Oh, and there's still six weeks to go - as you have posted.
Back off, as far as my figuring out how to post properly. I already apologized for not knowing how to do it, asked how to do it, and did what people told me to do. Dead issue. What's your problem, that you have to comment on what I tried to fix and did fix?
"The negative things people say about Honeymoon have to do with its lack of box office success. Which is not an opinion."
I know, i said the same thing.
and I'm sure the producers know they are not going to win. Many people have posted here saying that maybe they are keeping the show open to say they are a tony award nominee if they get nominated
Im pretty sure they are going to keep it open until the nominations come out on the 28th. If they don't get nominated, they will probably close 2 weeks later unless sales pick up so I think you're good!
Well, at this point believe they are in it for the long haul and keeping it open till nominations are announced on the 28th of April. At that point then determine based on the amount of nominations (most importantly-Best Musical) either announce a closing or stay open and see if they win any! It's all a mystery with this show and why it is still open today.
"Anything you do, let it it come from you--then it will be new."
Sunday in the Park with George
My guess is that if they do make it to the nominations, and they don't get the Best Musical nom, they will close that Sunday. So I'd get my ticket for that week.
If it doesn't get nominated for Best Musical, but Tony Danza gets a nomination, do you think it'll stay open? I ask because it sounds like he's part of the reason why it's still open.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

I saw honeymoon In Vegas and absolutely loved it! This is a wonderfully entertaining, laugh out loud hilarious Broadway musical comedy. The cast, the score, the set design, the direction are all fabulous!
This subject heading is Honeymoon In Vegas struggling on Broadway, and it leads one to believe this is not a good show. I am so glad I had not previously seen this thread and had no bias going into the show(the orchestra was very full the night I was there, by the way) because from the minute the orchestra started, I enjoyed every minute of Honeymoon In Vegas!
Kind of depends on your view point. I have always understood to mean struggling financially.

@jt2-I also think struggling has always referred to the financial aspect. There is no question that Honeymoon has its fans, including some in high places, but it makes no sense that it is still running. That shouldn't affect your feeling about it: I like lots of things (shows, films, bands, etc) that don't find an audience. I don't like them any less because they didn't, and I wouldn't want you to avoid any show because of the insanity of keeping it running from a financial perspective.
And to whoever asked if this thread could hit a thousand posts... that's up to the people pouring money down the drain to keep it open. This thread will most likely persist until it closes.

No Hogan, not could...SHOULD. This thread SHOULD hit 1000 posts. We owe it to humanity. This thread... gives LIFE! And since you've been one of the most essential supporters of this thread in the past, in our drive for 1000, how many additional posts can we put you down for? 25? 30? Of course, if it is more convenient for you, you can pledge 5 posts a week which will automatically be renewed each week as long as the show continues to run. And for a renewing pledge of at least 5 posts per week, you will also receive a copy of Rick Steves' Europe Through The Back Door.
I'm frankly quite surprised that no announcement has been made of it's closing yet; let's just say that the box-office numbers have been rather.....well...let's be nice and call it weak.
If Jerry Orbach was still with us, he would've been wonderful in the role that Tony Danza plays (sorry, I forgot the character's name).
