OOOOH VERY interesting!!! I have been wondering when they would announce the tour cast since they've been announcing dates and tour stops...interesting.....

It does seem strange that Amber’s departure hasn’t been announced yet though - aren’t principal departures typically released well in advance? The cast is good about announcing planned understudy appearances, so I doubt the producers have strict rules about not posting on social media like the Mean Girls producers did. "
Kimberly’s post is interesting based on the wording.. it says “catch me as a Worker” not just a “catch me before I leave” that is normally said. I wonder if her wording is on purpose or accidental. Either way, the wording sounds like she’s maybe getting promoted to another role within Hadestown.
I bet they’re not announcing anything until they get a second Persephone understudy up and running. They’re working on Jewelle now so I bet once she has her put in, they’ll announce

I finally won seats through the lottery last night (after trying every day for a year) and all the principals were in so no one's left yet
When Reeve does leave I would love to see Lucas Steele as Orpheus.

Mike Wartella posted a video singing Wait For Me, and it was AMAZING. I'm hoping for him
It's a tough part, not many people could do it. I hope Damon Daunno comes back and reprises his role. He is perfection.

What makes it particularly tough? Didn’t get that sense when I saw the show.
His songs. The notes are particularly high for a man's part which isn't a problem for Reeve sing he has a high voice anyways.
Amber Gray has been casted in an Amazon movie. So i guess it means she is indeed leaving.

hopefully only temporarily. I love her so much in that role. Gahh, I hope there's an announcement soon. I want to take my bff 3/19, but I'm torn if she's not there.

Would love to see Damon Daunno in the Orpheus role. He's got the charisma that would be perfect. I saw the show for the 2nd time last week with a friend and forgot how much I loved everyone but Carney. Just so bland for a heroic lead.
The tougher replacment is Andre DeShields, who is so perfect. Wonder how Ben Vereen is doing these days. Wouldn't he be great!

SAME! Though they’d need to age up Eurydice too since Damon looks older than Reeve. But I love the off Bway live recording with him and Nadiyah Be.

Looks like she's a new worker vacation swing, judging by her hashtags that say, well, #worker1 #worker2 #vacationswing. Can't imagine that would mean much else, lol. I'm not sure if she's a replacement or not, but I'd assume so, given that contracts are up right about now and it'd be weird to just randomly add a swing. Additionally, I know that Damani van Rensalier who is a current Vacation Swing, hinted that she's leaving soon via her instagram story (before the Broadway shutdown). (There's fan rumors that Damani is leaving to do the tour, but please take that with a grain of salt.)

i'd love to see Terrence Mann for Hades... and a strong vote for Damon Daunno as Orpheus
Anthony Chatmon will not be returning. https://www.instagram.com/p/B-muyQWD3G-/
Very odd to me that now both Ahmad and Anthony left the show after such short stints. While I understand they want to move on to bigger roles, most people would kill to be in a surefire hit for as long as they can, while covering multiple principal roles. Guess they must not be paid enough to make it worth it.

What???
The performers leaving could mean anything, going on the Hadestown Tour, Booking another project, etc.
Anthony specifically states he was leaving for another (but now cancelled) opportunity.

I never implied anything differently, I'm aware both Ahmad and Anthony left for new projects. But if I'm not mistaken, I thought most equity chorus contracts were for 8-10 month periods, where as Principal contracts were 12 months. Ahmad and Anthony both left before 8 months, which means unless their contracts were short to begin with, they opted out.
Let's not act like chorus performers leaving their contracts early is a super common thing - it's not. And to be in a secure hit like Hadestown is something a lot of ensemblists dream of.
Pitchforks down, folks. I love both performers and Hadestown. Slow news month, eh?
I’m sure the culture at Hadestown is much different compared to long running hits like Wicked and Phantom. The performers in Wicked and Phantom are there specifically for the paycheck, while the Hadestown cast is there to create. Also, I assume being apart of the original cast/a first replacement at Hadestown does more to further ones career than being the 13th replacement at Wicked.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. Hadestown is just another show, just like any other. It's a paycheck that gives actors an opportunity to create, as does Wicked and Phantom even though they've been around longer. And frankly, Wicked and Phantom are much surer bets to come back and continue to have lengthy runs (realistically, Hadestown probably had about a 2-3 year cap even without coronavirus). The only reason I could see Hadestown being better for your career is that there's a greater chance casting directors saw you in Hadestown (since it was early in the run) than those other shows.

very surprised to read all this. you think the Hadestown ensemble werent all auditioning for Wicked or whatever> Or that the Hadestown team wouldnt call in Wicked cast members for roles?
i think of Hadestown as a higher art form than Wicked, sure, but very silly to think that means only certain types audition for one or the other.

Anyone else think that they will become more prone to doing stunt casting with this show to get bums in seats after all of this?
If they do, I think Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello would be the ideal Orpheus and Eurydice
