If you buy from a scalper, there's really no way to tell if the ticket is genuine. The fakes that I have seen online look very good.
If I were buying, I would ask the scalper to wait with me while the ticket is scanned and I enter the theater, but you'd probably get laughed at for that request.
I don't know if the box office will verify for you. Why don't you ask if you're right there.

Sorry that you might not get cancellation line tix, but if you could do me a favor and ask the first person in line what time they got there I'd be so appreciative. I might try the Monday night show two weeks from now and I know I'll have to get there at some time early Sunday night, but want to do my best. Thanks.
There's a regular scalper there. Looks like an older man, light skinned african american. May be wearing a bomber jacket, fine mustache. His tickets are legit. I saw him sell one for $350. The mom waited with him, the daughter went in. She texted that she was in then they walked away to do the money exchange. He is ALWAYS there. I work in the area and have scoped out the line many times and see him.
I've seen Stunhub seats go down to $444.00 for row J in the orchestra on a Tuesday so keep checking. It would be better if you were closer to the stubhub offices on 40th st to print pick-up only. You can run to FedEx Kinkos on 8th floor of Marriott to print Instant Downlaod tickets. Their office closes at 7pm.
and yes, TM tickets that are on StubHub are a sure thing. It's how I bought my may tickets that I am now selling.

"I see rear mezz row A center on stubhub for about $600+. I sat there but left side and the view was fantastic. Plus extra leg room! Richard Rodgers theater seats are maaaad cramp! I've been to 11 shows since April and I noticedb the lack of space. Yikes

I did a search and pulled up this article from last summer. It seems to suggest that the only tickets Tony voters got were for performances last summer - and they were not happy about it:
Hey - I'm brand new to BroadwayWorld, and I'm coming in this week for three days from Canada, this Thursday (14th) - Saturday (16th) by myself. I've read through the whole thread (took a LONG time to get all of it) and can someone tell me what the numbers/atmosphere/crowds were like today? Would love to know the current times and odds as nobody has shared in the last few weeks. Thank you!
Probably the same. I went 2 weeks ago and managed to get cancellation tix after a 12 hour wait (arrived at 6am). We got lucky that day since we were 4th in line and no line sitters. We later realized Lin-Manuel Miranda was out and so was Javier --- which meant Jon Rua was Hamilton. Still a stellar performance! I'm a Renee fan and as long as she's there as Angelica I'll be happy. :)
From what I recall they had 12-13 cancellation tix that day.
I suggest on your first day in NYC to go to Hamilton cancellation line and ask the first few folks what time they got there and then plan to go back the next day or two. Enter the digital lottery. Winners do exist.

I did cancellation line last Moday the only people who got a ticket were people that had been there for over 29 hours, they were all paid line sitters. I didn't go back to wait again the next day, but I wish I would have because I went back and spoke to some other that did go back, the girl that was in front of me the night before arrived at 6am and was 3rd in line and she did make it in!

I have made arrangements with SOLD to stand in line for me and two kids for the Saturday evening 7 May show. We are hoping to get three tickets which means we have two line guys for us, which leaves an open (possible) ticket. If anyone is interested in sharing costs on the SOLD guy and possibly getting that fourth ticket, let me know.
Depends on how much one is willing to pay the line sitter! Most people who wait for Wednesdays either go for the matinee or evening show (whichever one they can get) so expect to wait.

Last Tuesday the paid line sitters had started a second line for Wednesday at about 6pm if I remember correctly.

My friend passed by the Richard Rodgers on 4/10 (Sunday), and there were already a few line sitters there for the Monday show. Since there's no Sunday show right now, I find that crazy!!
I live in CT and I'm heading to NYC w/ a Peter Pan bus at 5am to try my chance at a cancellation ticket. They said I'll get there at 8:20am but it usually arrives earlier. Is it even worth it to try?
I understand tomorrow is a *special* day because of #EduHam but I really want to see if I can make it for the evening show. You know the whole not throwing away my shot thing.

My daughter and I did the cancellation line last Wednesday. We got to the theater at 10pm on Tuesday. We were 6th in line with 5 line sitters ahead of us. The next person came at 10:30 and there was about 4 more people lined up by 3:30am. That was what I called the "OG". No one else really lined up until after 7am. It was freezing out and I think that kept people away. A little while after the box office opened, we were offered 4 premiums. The first line sitter took one and a guy behind us took one. About 15 minutes before the matinee, they came out with 5 tickets. Two pairs went to line sitters and the single ticket went to a girl behind us. Just after 2pm, they came out with 2 more tickets which went to another line sitter. We were next as the line sitter directly in front of us was waiting for evening. A minute later, they came out with two standing room, which we took. After the show, I found out that 5 more tickets were sold after ours. So, 12 tickets total not including the premiums. The show was amazing! It was worth the 16 hour wait in the cold. I thought Wednesday worked out as a great day to do the line as there were two shows. Also, it was cold out, so it kept the initial crowd down. I think it will get worse as the weather warms up.
I have to say that the Richard Rodgers staff did not seem happy with the cancellation line. Two different employees came out to "talk" to us. It was more of a scolding. We were warned sternly against harassing people, getting physical, etc. We were told that if we left the line, we forfeit our place. One of the employees did not seem to like the SOLDs. She pointed her tirade at them and one seemed to really take offense, but he did not say anything directly to her. It left me wondering what the line will be like in the warmer months. They seem to be barely tolerating it. as it is. I don't want to start a line sitter debate in any way, but it seems they have this down to a science making it very hard for anyone else to get in. I can't imagine trying the line on a one show day.
theatrechic said: "Can anyone tell me where exactly I should line up? I'm going on Wednesday and trying cancellation line nice and early but I'm not sure where the line should start. If I'm in front of the theatre, looking at the front doors is the line to the left? I think that's what I remember from a while back (different show) but that could be completely wrong. Any help is much appreciated. :)
It's very easy, there will be a line already and at the front of the line will be few professional line holder guys with yellow SOLD logo hats. Get behind them, the line is to the left going towards marriott.
It varies from my experience. From midnight to 2 hours before the performance, the line starts at the box office and goes towards Les Mis (so you're under the awning protected from the rain and sun.)
From 2 hours before the performance until after the performance, the line moves to the other side towards the Marriott.
Once you arrive at the theater, the likelihood of seeing a line sitter is quite high so just line up behind them wherever they are. Whatever you do, ***MAKE SURE TO TAKE A PHOTO*** of your place in line. This will resolve a lot of issues later on.
I just saw Shuffle Along and on my way home, passed by Hamilton and saw 3 line sitters there. Since there were still a few fans getting autographs, the line sitters were on the Marriott side.
I know that portable camping chairs are not allowed in the theater. But are they allow to be used in the cancellation line. I seen the professional line sitters sit on milk crates, but I was wondering if the full size camping chairs allowed? given they're approx $15, there's a dumpster across the street to toss if I need too.

That article was mostly BS. Just stirring the pot. They will have tickets for the Tony voters, just you wait.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

I saw him when i did the cancellation line last month, he went up and down the line asking for spare tickets and then resold them for more than he brought them for to some people at the back of the cancellation line, which really sucked.

There's a linesitter I've seen often who has a yellow tent, like he's Bubble Boy. I don't see why you couldn't have a camping chair.

Oh my gosh! That's terrible! Then people at the back of the cancellation line should just go directly to the ticket holders line and get any spare tickets!
