I'd be curious to hear what the issue was with the family of 6 as well. My understanding is you can swap places before the box office opens. Once the box office opens, no more swapping and the person in line is the only one who can purchase the tix.

Your understanding is incorrect ... there is NO swapping EVER.

Do you know what time that was? Thanks.

Just wondering how often people have seen zero tickets become available, and if this has happened, any special circumstances, day of the week, something special going on, time of year, etc., or is there really no rhyme or reason?

How is that enforced when the box office opens at 10am?

Hey everyone,
Yesterday, I arrived at 8am and was 4th in line (and managed to get tickets). And honestly, until like maybe 3pm, there was not that many ppl waiting in line (maybe 10 at most). I'm guessing it was because #Eduham, nonetheless, the experience was AMAZING. The box office people were really nice and encouraging the entire time "Don't worry you'll definitely get a ticket", same as a guard. The show started late. I got it at around 8:05. Definitely, nervewrecking. I managed to take pictures w/ Anthony Ramos, said hi to Chris Jackson and Lin's dad. Plus, the people I was waiting in line with were THE best. We ever started our own "hamilton" show outside.
I was freezing most of the time but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Hooray! Glad it worked out for you and you didn't have to camp out overnight.
Yesterday there seemed to be a pretty decent deal on StubHub right before showtime. I wanna go back and see the show and hope to find a good deal like this when I'm ready to pull the trigger. I check daily because I work in the area of StubHub and theater to I can get tickets printed last minute and head to theater, last night, I was already home when 2nd row center was under $500 without fees

"I've been wondering the same thing. Things have changed since I waited on 3/11. Does anyone have anything to share regarding this? Is the theater enforcing? Self-policing amongst the line? I'd consider trying again but I don't think I could do it alone and would need a swap with a friend or relative (none who exist who wants to see the show that bad!) LOL! I don't think I can wait 5-6pm til the next day."

Long story short. didn't get to see the show. very sad
Might travel back to NYC just for the show at the end of the month. And plan to do a overnight wait this time. But I am worried whether I will be fully awake by the time the show start.

A quick report from the April 16 line: This was my second trip to the line (I failed to see the show in Feb). The people in the front positions arrived 24 hours earlier than my 10:45AM arrival. I noticed a fellow February line sitter (great guy that went shopping for feet warmers in the cold of Feb- never got his name). He was 5 in front of me and arrived at 1AM.
At 11 the woman in front of me announced she won the lottery!!! While everyone was happy, I was especially pleased as she was in FRONT of me.
The line was the same cordial (holding spots for bathroom breaks etc) as I recalled. At 12:30 we moved from in front of the Richard Rogers Theater to in front of the Marriott's service gates. About that same time a Florida tourist (& spouse/girlfriend) arrived asking if anyone wanted to buy his tickets. He was asking $700 each...everyone passed, but someone in front of me said they would be interested if the price was $300 each. The Floridians disappeared into the crowds of Times Square.
About 1:05 PM the ticket office released 4 unclaimed lottery winning tix. About the same time the Florida tourist returned. Although he started at the front of the line a man from Canada and the guy in front of me stopped him. He wanted $300 each.
The Canadian passed (clearly a painful decision for him) so I teamed up with the guy n front of me. Soon we were both getting cash from the ATM across the street and I had my ticket!!!!.
Having no where to go (& it was 1:20PM) I went back to my cancellation line friends...until the doors opened at 1:30-ish.
Our seats were $177 face value and in the last row of the center orchestra... The balcony's overhang was a tiny bit in the way...but I bent over on the rare moments necessary. More frustrating was a giant guy in front of me with a bit of a habit of scratching his ears ... Totally blocking the view!
After the show I returned to the line...my February friend was still there talking to the Canadian.Although I didn't ask (out of courtesy), the line didn't look much shorter than it did at 1:30.
Was it worth it? Yes! I loved the show (except for one song exactly the same as the cast recording...wonder why they dropped that single short song???). I had a great day in NYC! Thanks to everyone on the line for your friendship

Which song was that?

Isn't really a song, it's more of a talking scene where
Hamilton finds out that Laurens has died when Eliza reads him a letter from Laurens' father and Laurens is at the side of the stage singing a bit of 'The Story of Tonight'
Lin has said he cut it because it's more of a scene than a song and he wanted something to surprise audiences.

Now that the Wed. lottery is reinstated, does anyone know the policy re: cancellation line people and the lottery line? We plan to go early AM (like 3) on Wed. for the cancellation line to try to get Wed. matinee or night tickets, but we'd also like to enter the live lottery. I know that, last time we did the cancellation line, people were able to purchase unclaimed lottery tickets, but there was no live lottery so I wasn't sure whether cancellation line people were permitted to go to the lottery line in hopes of scoring a $10 ticket and enter there while still holding their place in the cancellation line or how that works? And is the lottery like the cancellation line in that you wait for long hours without knowing if you'll be entered or does everyone in the lottery line get entered for a chance to win? Thanks in advance for any info.

This is SO frustrating to me. Good for the cancellation line, but very very frustrating to those of us who try the lottery regularly.

So my uncle surprised me today by waiting since 12:00pm yesterday afternoon on the cancellation line and we both got in. He was fourth in line and everyone in front of him and a few people behind him were all like sitters. At around 3:30pm today, they offered premium tickets and he bit the bullet and bought me one so I'd be guaranteed to get in (this was a Birthday present, and a crazy expensive one to boot). Then there was no more action, and they moved the line a few times to different areas.
Finally, I went inside at 6:30 and he ended up getting a seat at around 6:58 for $177! His seat was Center Orch G Seat 104 and mine was Left Orch F Seat 5. The show was certainly one of the greatest theatrical experiences of my life and I will never be able to thank him enough for waiting so long. After the curtain call, Lin did the BCEFA speech and Renee chimed in at the end congratulating him on the Pulitizer. The whole show and crowd had a really wild and passionate every tonight that was great to see. Lin's entrance stopped the show and some people gave him a standing ovation when he entered.
They offered just for tonight, 20 people could donate $500 to Broadway cares and get a pic with Lin in costume so I didn't stick around stage door too long as the 15 people waitin to get backstage hadn't even gotten in until 20 minutes after the end of the show. So I may go back to get my playbill signed and pictures. The whole experience was amazing and one I'll never forget!

Dear god, 12:00pm the day before? So, 29 hours (and not even first in line)? I did the cancellation line once but only had to wait 12 hours, and am planning on trying it again soon, but I'm trying to wrap my head around just how I can physically do this and still be fully present for the show. I'm assuming he had a lawn chair or something with him, did he just sleep there in line?

"Holy crap! 40 hours? Is it a fan or line sitter? It's just humanly impossible for me to even attempt a 40 hour wait!
You know what's REALLY great about your post? That even tho you arrived in 4th place, you're actually in 1st place for a single ticket! You are sure to get in for that single ticket! I pray single tickets are offered right off the bat and you can leave the line and rest before the show!
When I waited on 3/11, I arrived at 3am and was #9. If I had accepted one of the first two single tickets that were offered at 12:30pm I would have been #2 on the line then. But held out for a pair and 17 hours later, never got any tickets.
Amazing blessings to you during your wait! Remember! You are in first place for a single ticket!!!! That is inspiration!
I hope you get it! Out of curiosity ---- if 3 separate people hired SOLD to wait for the same time, who gets to be the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in line? Just curious how line sitting works. '
As for the person who arrived for tomorrow's show --- is it for matinee or evening?

Yes- I wondered, myself, how that works especially since I know there are at least 2 other line sitting companies trying to get tickets for their clients...
