Maybe they can get Adam Lambert to fill in depending on his schedule of touring with Queen. Who else would be a good Hedwig? I feel like if they want a big star they'd go for James Franco or Joseph Gordon-Levvitt.
Lambert is with Queen through early September, so NPH would have to extend for that to work...
Which he has stated that he isn't going to do many, many times.
If I were dream casting, I'd love to see Ezra Miller do it. But he wouldn't classify as a box office draw, although that would just mean I could go more often.
"so NPH would have to extend for that to work..."
I'd like to see that happen. I go again to see Adam Lambert.
Some extreme side seats just got released for this week. Otherwise, it looks like all of the non-Premium seats are sold out for the rest of the run.
Wouldn't the takeaway be that they continue to release extreme sides on an ongoing basis close to the performance date?
It's not for the rest of the run, just for the rest of NPH's time with the show.
Why wouldn't NPH extend his run? That would be the smart move wouldn't it, the hard work of rehearsals are done, so all what Neil does is 7x 90 minute shows, he can ask for a more inflated pay check and relocate his family to New York, where he would be lucky enough to spend most of the day with his family, more than most people.
Even if he does extend his run, the show will be recast when he leaves. It's not just going to close.
"and relocate his family to New York, where he would be lucky enough to spend most of the day with his family, more than most people."
That already happened.
If by some chance he does extend, it will only be for a short amount of time.
The family is already IN NY, they all came out.
While I know anything is possible, why shouldn't he just leave when he's planned to? Bedtime is a big deal to most families. It's a security for young children. I also think i remember that he said something about a promise he made to his husband.
" Why wouldn't NPH extend his run? "
They already extended through August. He has said in every interview that he is looking forward to a break after August, seeing more of family after it's over which is was he said was "soon" at the Tonys last night, and he has to promote Gone Girl in October.

I'm suddenly interested in seeing Hedwig, but I really don't care if it's NPH, or some other actor. I hope they'll recast (Kevin Cahoon, maybe).

I saw Kevin Cahoon do the show twice. He was great.
So I guess they will have to decide if after casting a new actor the run will be about the new actor or if it will be about the show. They run the risk of the post-Producers run starring Not Nathan and Not Matthew. Or they could aim for stunt casting, because, why not? It could keep the show running. Or it could misfire.
Time will tell. If these walls could talk.
I don't know if Jinkx Monsoon could sell the Belasco like NPH, but I'd love to see Jinkx take over. Wasn't there rumors of P!nk coming in as well?

The Belasco is not that big a house, neither is the cast, and I think they could make a profit at 3 or 4 hundred thousand and run until January at least. Give us all a chance!
Cahoon was excellent---- Ceveris was great too!!! Either would work for me!

Someone posted they would like to see Pink in Hedwig, but I think that was about as official as that rumor is...
I still think Adam Lambert is a good idea but now I'm also intrigued by the Joseph Gordon-Levitt suggestion.
