Sophia is NOT 8 as stated several times. She turned 10 while on a visit with Ellen this past season and has grown significantly (still plump enough for LRRH) since her first visit last season. She will be close to or already 11 by the beginning of filming. With extensive vocal rehearsals (which Marshall is known for) she may surprise all the haters on here. I'm not thrilled about the casting but definitely will accept it and look forward to seeing how it all turns out!
I don't think Sophia Grace is stunt casting - we're 14 months way from the film opening, and the internet eats its young quickly. She may have internet popularity now (although I'm one who'd never heard of her before this thread), but is unlikely to have that fame in six months or a year. If Marshall/Disney thought she'd bring people in to see the film in December 2014, that is stupid, in my opinion. (Of course, Disney did greenlight and mis-market John Carter and Lone Ranger, so....maybe they are stupid). I agreed with Best - Marshall must have decided that she fit the role as he sees it - for good or bad. But, it's not stunt casting.

Agreed, I don't really think this is a case of stunt casting. Sophia Grace IS popular, but not as popular as everybody thinks.
I'm guessing she must've really wowed Disney/Marshall. A lot of talented and better known actresses auditioned for the role.
Sophia Grace isn't going to carry this movie, and she doesn't have to.
But she's not bringing in the same audience that would go to see Meryl Streep or Emily Blunt.
It may not be a huge audience, but it's not a repeated audience from the other cast members. That's a good thing (financially).
And don't underestimate the value of endless, free plugs on "Ellen," either.
At least I can look forward to the scene where little red gets eaten.
Yes, I have a feeling a lot of people here will be rooting for the Wolf.
Well, if a revival is (or will be) in the works, Sierra Boggess really wants to play Cinderella.

Isn't she Cinderella in the stage version of Ever After? I know she and Jeremy Jordan did the workshop...

We have our first logo! It was revealed at D23.
Walt Disney Studios reveal live action films at 2013 D23 Expo: Marvel, Maleficent, Tomorrowland, Muppets, Saving Mr Banks

Same logo we've seen for various regional productions, but at least it was discussed. Wonder what they talked about or if they showed any "live via satellite" stuff like for other films.
I'm just happy this film is finally happening. It was supposed to happen in the 90's but it got locked up in Development Hell. Not crazy about Disney producing it but I think it will be fine. The logo is nothin special but I'm sure the actual poster will be awesome.
I like the logo. If they stick with this one, it certainly works for the film!
I like the logo, too. Evokes the original logo. Didn't fix what wasnt broken.
I like it, too. Looking forward to the poster(s).

I expect there will be more sneak peak and details for this film to be revealed at next year's D23 Expo, which will also be the same year that the film will be released.
Holy ****, that really is the community theatre logo. I mean it looks GREAT, but still.
More like this. But, still they are both very similar
It's great to see that they are using the original. Seems like Les Miserables made the way for others to do the same

Yeah, I mean with 63 Oscar nominations including a Best Picture, and 23 Academy Award wins for their musicals, can you image if they actually knew what they were doing?

Well, when was the last time they produced a live action musical that was nominated, let alone won, an Academy Award? It seems like a valid concern to me (not that I share it, but I don't really think it's unfounded).
To answer the above question, that would be 2002 for CHICAGO.
