I don't know if you've seen a hi-rez image of that photo with Meryl as the Witch, but her makeup is fantastic, and so is her costume. All the details ... and I love her nails.
I didn't mean Christine Baranski looked like Lady Gaga, I meant the stepsister, Lucinda, played by Lucy Punch. She has the Lady Gaga bow made of hair.
Anyway, Meryl Streep looks AWESOME as the witch! I don't know about the feathers, or the twigs in her hair, or the lack of anything done to her face, but the rest of it is amazingly good! I, too hope they can make her uglier so she looks beautiful after her transformation. If she doesn't look that ugly there's not much reason for her to try to break the spell. One of the reasons was also because Rapunzel was bothered by how she looked.
THE GIVER is moving production to England specifically to shoot Streep's scenes. The rest of the film will shoot in South Africa.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
Ok, this is going to bug me. Looking at the picture of Meryl in hi-res, doesn't her face look photoshopped on? On her forehead, the top is very smooth and then the wrinkles seem to start from nowhere and create a line that makes it look like her face was photoshopped onto the rest. Anyone else notice this? I'm not trying to nitpick for the sake of nitpicking, just something that's bothering me after noticing it.
I wasn't totally sold on this rendering of the Witch but that high-res image is very cool. I love the twigs that are woven into the wig, and the costume looks very tree-like. Colleen Atwood is totally the perfect designer for this film, I love her work.
I'm also assuming that the "smooth" part of her forehead is there because of the wig lace. It probably extends down a little bit more and they will edit it in post.

Well, he's described in the script as a man with a wolf snout and tail and ears and a hairy chest, etc. The few descriptive words sound very much like the way he looked in the stage show ... but of course that's open to a wide range for interpretation.
And clearly Depp isn't wearing any wolf makeup here.
I think I thought this was his costume because, I mean ... look at that jacket! LOL
But the more I see it, I just think he's dressing weird to show up on set. That's Johnny.
