No major developments here- the strong shows remain strong, the struggling shows continue to struggle. Modest upticks for Boop, Dead Outlaw, and RWHC won't help them much.
Cabaret needs to do something soon, though. It hasn't recouped and I don't think it's had a profitable week in a while.
Remember, this is pre-Tonys (and this year's ceremony got a good number of eyes).
Last week, we said happy trails to OTHELLO, GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK, Maya Boyd, and David Thaxton. I do expect this week's numbers to take something of a plunge without Clooney, Denzel, and Jake.
I'm happy to see the numbers for "Boop" are improving. It will be my third show on Sat. June 21st.

I'm so happy to see John Proctor thriving. It should have won the best play.

Wasn't Cabaret rumored to need 1mil a week to break even? It's looking pretty grim. There seemed to be some whispers awhile ago about a big name coming in next - but that seems to have died down?

Miley Cyrus had been the name bandied around a lot, but she recently said she has a vocal chord issue and has decided not to tour and that seemed to kill the rumors since I can't imagine she would opt into doing a Broadway show if there are concerns for her vocal health during sustained performance.
Wow kudos to GOOD NIGHT GOOD LUCK with a gross of $4.33 million this past week!!! WOW! That must be a record for an 8-performance week at a Broadway theater, right?
I recall during the holidays in 2023 being amazed with LION KING's gross of $4.3 million but that was for a 9-performance week!
For CABARET, that number is DIRE.
I know one issue that may be contributing is how often the stars are calling out. I know a few people who requested a refund after finding out that Orville or Eva (namely the latter) were out. I kinda figured this was coming when I saw they both appeared to opt for all 8 shows/week and no scheduled day off.
GYPSY cannot survive on those numbers. I doubt even the Tony performance will goose numbers back where they need to be. I know that Audra has her vacation coming up and so they are presumably testing Montego Glover as a replacement, but they are likely (and better off) to fold with Audra around Labor Day.
STRANGER THINGS also doesn’t look like a candidate to stay the full summer. Three technical design awards will not give it the numbers it needs to hold on until November when the show premieres on Netflix

The most recent plausible rumor I've heard is that Marisha Wallace and Billy Porter could be reprising their roles from the West End.

Too bad they wouldn't be able to get Cynthia Erivo. She could play either the MC or Sally. I once saw a great student production with a female MC.
A female Emcee would be INSPIRED casting for this particular CABARET revival.
I'm always baffled when people think someone like Miley Cyrus, one of the biggest names and stars in the world would be what? A 4th replacement? Same for Cynthia. Not the caliber of Miley but still a recognizable name and talent who in my opinion, is too good to be a replacement to the replacement to the replacement to the replacement.

Other board says Billy is seemingly no longer transferring with her.
A female MC would be great for this.

Honestly? Good. Marisha is LONG overdue for her flowers on Broadway - especially since she moved to London because Broadway rebuffed her.
I really can’t get behind Billy Porter anymore. I’m glad he’s had a third renaissance of his career, but he’s become almost a caricature of himself and, just like with the upcoming LA CAGE at Encores, I’m finding it harder to see a character as opposed to Billy playing Billy playing a character
Agree on Billy . His performances all feel the same. Hopefully Marisha comes over for a run . She’s looks fantastic.
Will gypsy make its Oct 4 scheduled close? We can’t see it running past then with its current $?
If Cabaret wants to survive they need to start planning gimmick casting like this: Nikki Blonsky and Zac Efron as Sally Bowles and the Emcee, respectively.

There is nothing wrong with being a “late” replacement. Emma Stone was a replacement for the last Cabaret revival and while I loved Michelle Williams, Emma was (and still is) arguably the bigger name. I recall something along the lines of not wanting the pressure and commitment of opening a show versus coming into an already established one.

in 2014/15, I’d put Emma Stone and Michelle Williams on the same level, with an edge to Michelle Williams.

Even tho Stone had two Spider movies, she was not a respect actress like Williams at that time, that replacement was very well around expectations.
Miley Cyrus or Cynthia Erivo being a replacement for Gayle Rankin, Au'lii Cravalho and Eva Noblezada is a whole different world.

In Stone's case, she was the first pick and was going to do it, but the scheduling didn't work out with The Amazing Spider-Man 2. She replaced because playing Sally Bowles was a childhood dream. So yes, if there's someone who wants to play it badly enough to be the replacement, anything can happen. It's just very unlikely.

Williams announcement noting Stone had to drop out:

Also, Williams may have been the more acclaimed actress at the time, but Stone was the bigger star. Even outside Spider-Man, Stone had headlined movies and was a box office draw, which Williams wasn't, and still isn't.
