As excited as I am to see Jennifer live, this casting just seems so wrong. At first I assumed she would be playing Sophia, which would make much more sense. Thinking about Cynthia Erivo and Jennifer Holliday falling in love with each other makes me a tad uncomfortable. Not necessarily the age difference, but Holliday just has a bit of an awkward way about her, not to mention the fact that her dancing skills leave much to be desired. This should be the most interesting Push Da Button we've ever seen. They're better off re-staging the number and having her sing it into a standup microphone instead. Whatever happens, John Doyle certainly has his work cut out for him. I'm really hoping she surprises all of us and turns in a wonderful performance, I'm totally rooting for her, but I can't help but be super skeptical about this. I saw the show back in June, and it was probably the most beautiful theatre going experience of my life. Heather was absolutely stunning and Danielle was fabulous, as was the entire company, but Cynthia Erivo is just indescribable. I really don't want Holliday to turn the show into anything less than what it is now.

With a little mascara...all your dreams come true.

Apparently Cynthia Erivo did a Facebook Live Q&A today (while she was on the treadmill...), and when someone asked, "Are you excited to work with Jennifer Holliday?" her response was just, "I'm intrigued."
As unconfident in Holliday's aesthetic as I am, I'm electing to hold out hope until I hear thoughts on her first few performances. Is anybody going to the show tomorrow night? Or any time this week?
I'm curious to see her and hear what people think.
I was on the website to see how it had been redesigned since Headley's departure, and I noticed that Joaquina Kalukango (Nettie) had also left the show. Was this recently?

My only hope is that she misses a lot of shows and the audience is treated to Rema Webb as Shug instead.

I just hope she doesn't ruin a fantastic show. I'm fearing the worst with her joining this cast.
