Carell, who played a regional manager in “The Office,” will also play a manager in “Uncle Vanya.” His character is the country estate’s long-suffering administrator (and the brother of the professor’s first wife); he oversees the property with a niece, Sonya, who will be played by Alison Pill, who last appeared on Broadway in a revival of “Three Tall Women” and was a Tony Award nominee for “The Lieutenant of Inishmore.” They will be joined by William Jackson Harper, an alumnus of the NBC comedy “The Good Place” who this year wowed Off Broadway audiences with his starring role in “Primary Trust”; he will play Astrov, the local doctor.

Especially considering the recent (mostly poor) Broadway offerings by LCT, it's a welcomed surprise, even for those of us who were dreading another VANYA.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
This cast is perfect. How often do so many "name" actors this big get lined up with roles so well suited for them? This revival from just went from "Why?" to "YES PLEASE."
I’m excited for this. I usually adore the posters and advertising Lincoln Center does, but whatever they just posted on their Instagram for this is tragic. What in the graphic design is my passion is that???

That definitely does not look like a James McMullan design. What gives? I have loved so many McMullan window cards over the years. I am staring at his Piazza which I have framed on my wall right in front of me.
This artwork looks like the cover of a paperback you'd see at the airport bookshop.
LCT doesn't always use McMullan (Flying Over Sunset, Women on the Verge, Junk, Skin of Our Teeth, etc). I hated his CAMELOT artwork, but I'd take that over whatever this is any day.
yeah not great artwork, but Lila knows that space and I heard great things about their previous work so I'd be curious. I'm not sure I'd say this is the 'hot ticket' just yet because I feel like these adaptions can be so hit or miss. But if all the pieces are there.... could be a monster hit for LCT.

Assuming this is a limited run of 10-20 weeks, I expect it will sell pretty well to members and the general public. It might not have grosses at Merrily levels, but it should at minimum have their best grosses since My Fair Lady.
Carell remains a huge star with a draw from Gen Z through Baby Boomers. The collection of people around him should seal the deal for anyone less enthusiastic about Carell.
