Lea just posted on Instagram that she will be going live on the @funnygirlbwy Instagram account, potentially even during the show, with an announcement in less than an hour.
Lea announced on stage at the end of the show that there will be a cast recording. She will be on the 'Today Show' on Thursday morning to provide further details, including the release date.
In her speech she kinda let it slip and said, “original cast broadway album.”
I know this wouldn’t have been made with Lea, but the absolute erasure of Beanie, and Jane Lynch for that matter, is breathtaking. This whole story will make for some great Ryan Murphy esque drama series some day.
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.

Beanie and Jane (to a lesser degree) sucked. Stop with the Beanie guilt trip efforts.

I actually "eeked" out loud when she said it. LOL! Like, I get how easy of a stumble it must have been for her to say it and I don't think there was any shade or malice meant, but I can already hear the faux outraged tiktoks being drafted. Alas...I also can not wait to wear "Coronet Man" out!
I keep saying it, we need a Song of the Spiderman-esque bts tea type book on this show STAT! I promise I would read it cover to cover at least twice a year.

The twitter mob is already on it! Lol
I am so excited for this! They're all gonna sound great!
It was totally an accidental slip. This is not a common situation. Most cast albums are original Broadway cast. Also, most of this cast IS the OBC.
The Beanie outrage is annoying. This cast recording is giving dozens of hardworking performers and musicians the opportunity to be part of a Broadway cast recording yet people are focused on the feelings of an overly privileged and woefully cast original leading lady.
Were the producers at fault for casting Beanie? Yes. Beanie is also at fault for not having the self-awareness to realize she was totally unqualified for the part.
Lea is amazing in the role, and I’m glad her performance (as well as the entire cast) will be recorded.
While waiting for that announcement last night, I scrolled a through the Funny Girl insta, which I don't follow, and saw a video of the bows from when Lea took over....
Does this need SPOILERS?
Are they still doing that unfunny, jokey bit where the whole cast sorta looks all over for the leading lady & then she pops out from the wings? It was dumb when it was done the first time, why are they sticking with it?
So many teenagers (who I’m sure never saw the show to begin with) are FURIOUS on social media about the “erasure!!!!” which is just so pathetic and laughable. It either sounds like a slip of the tongue, or she was referring to the rest of the cast outside of her and Tovah.
Beanie couldn’t sing the score. People didn’t want to pay for her voice (once the production opened, as the advance quickly dried up) and both her and Lynch dipped out of their contracted commitments early. No one really wants a studio recording of either of them to start, and as someone already pointed out, this WILL BE a mostly original Broadway cast album (let’s talk about the eRaSuRe of the entire ensemble and supporting cast? Oh, wait, these non-paying children don’t care)
Alexandra Billings also made an embarrassing comment under the Playbill IG post, going along with the outrage. It’s all so silly. I don’t even like Funny Girl as a show but will purchase this album just to spite the fools.

Weren't she pointing to the rest of the cast when she said it? It is a bit of a weird situation anyway since the whole cast, except her and Tovah, is the original cast. It seemed to me that the intention of the "original" was about them and less on her. Anyway, the album cover posted on her account, if that is the final one, says "New Broadway Cast Recording".

It's a take-off of her entrance in His Love Makes Me Beautiful. The chorus is looking for her behind the mirror and she shows up on the other side of the stage. That was the least of their worries when the show opened.
Tickets to Funny Girl are now on sale through Sunday, May 28, 2023.
Barring an unforeseen absence, Ms.Michele is scheduled to perform seven shows a week now through May 28th, 2023!
She will not be performing on Thursday evenings. The marvelous Julie Benko will perform as Fanny on Thursday evenings.
There are a handful of changes to this schedule over the holidays. Ms. Michele will not perform - Friday 11/25 2pm Matinee (she will perform the 8pm evening performance) Tuesday 12/20 7pm (she will perform that Thursday 12/22 instead) Monday 12/26 2pm Matinee (she will perform the 8pm evening performance) Thursday 12/29 8pm
In 2023 - Sunday 2/19 at 3pm Matinee (she will perform Thursday 2/16 at 8pm instead)
Ms. Michele will be on vacation the entire week of 2/20 through 2/26
Sunday 5/14 at 3pm Matinee (she will perform Thursday 5/11 at 8pm instead)
We can confirm that all of our other principals remain scheduled to perform all eight ( performances a week barring an unforeseen absence.
Anyhoo, kind of a silly more general show question, but I got into a conversation with a friend about Princess tracks. Ever since I came across the term a couple of months ago I have been fascinated. As many shows as I did back in high school and college, I don't think I had ever heard the term. Maybe it's a newer term and I"m just old now.I started thinking if Funny Girl had one. Would it be the soloist for His Love Makes Me Beautiful? Or am a missing another character?
I had the immense pleasure of revisiting this production of FUNNY GIRL last night. I saw the show with Beanie back in May, and I absolutely loathed it. That being said, Lea Michele has done what I initially thought would be an impossible and herculean task - she has made this production a must see theatrical event for the ages.
Michele's Fanny is a riveting revelation. She grabs the audience at "Hello, Gorgeous", and she doesn't let go until her final bow. Her performance is simply astounding. I could go on and on here and just heap one laudatory adjective on top of another trying to describe her performance, but it just has to be seen to be believed.
The ugly and confining set, the tacky and garish lighting and costumes... they al just fade away with Michele steering the production. The rest of the cast is *SO* much better than they were in May. Tovah Feldshuh took a character that barely registered with me when I saw it Jane Lynch and had turned her into a loving and comical mother. Ramin Karimloo... again, another performance that just didn't land with me when I saw the show the first time, but now that he has someone decent to play off of in Michele, he is incredible.
The chemistry between Lea and Ramin is absolutely electric. It's what was missing the first time I saw this. FUNNY GIRL is a show that lives or dies by having a star leading lady that can 1) really sing the hell out of the score 2) be funny, heartbreaking, and real all at the same time and 3) act as the "glue" that ties the the rest of the cast together and gives them something to work with. With Lea Michele, you get all three of these things and more.
If you saw this before and didn't like it, GO BACK. This feels like a brand new production in the best ways possible. She really is "the greatest star", and this will be performance that goes down in history.

What if you saw it and liked it? At least parts if it?
Eh, that's a moot question as I already bought tickets to see it again in March.
But this reads like a lot of hyperbole.
Anyways, using one of my performance openings to see this again means I definitely won't see one of the following: & Juliet, Bad Cinderella, or Kimberly Akimbo. (there is also the slight chance that something else may announce that will knock another of these off the list. Or that one (KA) may be closed by March).
Edit: bwayphreak234 Sounds like you are having a good trip from your reviews so far. Your review of SLIH is part of what made me decide to stop hesitating & book tickets for Funny Girl instead of seeing SLIH. I know & love the songs vs something with lacklustre music
