The new Playbill is dull and uninspired - just like every other single creative and producing decision that has been made with this production. At least they're consistent.
"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "
I found myself wondering how was Funny Girl with Barbra in England. Where else to find this info, but on her website!
There's so much Funny Girl information on there."
Bro, that is NOT Barbra’s website. That’s Matt Howe’s insanely fantastic unauthorized website. Even Barbra has praised it and she has said she used it to fact check her own work history she couldn’t remember details to. Again… that is NOT her website nor run by her. It’s Matt Howe’s.

Oh, I always thought that was her sight when I visited it previously. I guess it's good to know that she's not as self obsessed as I was thinking. You can learn something new every day. Thanks for the information :)

It clearly says it all over the website.

I thanked you politely for correcting my error, but I see as usual you have to always push things further, act superior and rub salt into the "wound". I said thank you for letting me know. And just a tip, you should stop bullying people, it's not very nice. If there's any way you can put my particular postings on ignore so they don't get your dander up, I'd appreciate that very much. Have a good day, and please don't get vertigo up on your very high horse.

Why aren't there holding the ladder? At her age, she could fall. Better yet, you should be up on the ladder doing the scrubbing for Barbra!
I know you believe you are honoring/worshipping her by using, MISS BARBRA STREISAND. From my point of view, you are denying Ms Streisand her adulthood. You want to keep Ms Streisand forever young while you grow old, wrinkled and gray.
If anyone's interested, Lea and team have cancelled the rest of her tour due to FG rehearsals. Her fans seem to be split about this and there are people who feel betrayed by her. So, the fan support will be interesting to see once she opens the show.
Anyway, it seems like they're not gonna change anything much, at least choreo-wise, since it looks like Lea's gonna be trained a lot on the tap dancing. And maybe the extra rehearsal time is for her to get unused to the Rachel Berry/Barbra way of singing the FG songs?
Does anyone have any photos of what the marquee looks like now with Benko?
Also, not surprised about Lea Michele. The hype for her in this show is so strong right now if she can’t meet the expectations in this role it’s going to be a blow for her career. On the other hand, I fully expect a career revival especially as a Broadway leading lady should audiences, critics and the box office show this was a successful endeavour. God help us if we see a Lea Michele GYPSY in the next 5 years.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

Wasn't it just two shows in July and two in August at not necessarily big venues? In any event, it appears she and her people weighed what was more important to her career overall. I think her fans will be forgiving. The people who already hate her, already hate her, so doesn't matter what she does.
I give her perks for taking the time to better herself for the show. It seems she's self aware enough to know there is more to FG than just knowing some of the songs and being a fan.
I always hated the cartoon Beanie, because it looks less like her and more like the commonly used reaction GIF of her brother. That’s not even a face I see Beanie making regularly- it’s pure Jonah.

She had 3 shows in July and supposedly 3 shows this August (Chicago - Atlanta - Nashville) with 1 day break in-between shows. Yeah, FG's def bigger and I think if she pushed through (and further risk getting covid while travelling) and has less than stellar reviews on her opening night, people might blame her tour and call her arrogant for not rehearsing enough. She seems to be a "love to hate/make fun of" celeb.

The Daily Beast article outlined the original transition timeline, which would have allowed Lea to complete her City Winery tour commitment before going into rehearsal for Funny Girl.
Beanie moved up the timeline –seems like it's a mixed bag whether or not the producers actually knew about the Instagram notes app post was coming before it was posted– and forced Lea into an earlier start date to save the show.
Seems to me like it's Beanie's apology to make to City Winery audiences, not Lea's.
The couple hundred people that didn't want to taste any wine and bought tickets specifically to see Lea will be fine. There will be other concert tours. A refund and an, "I'm sorry, but this came up," are all ✅.
