From what I’m hearing (and I could be 100% wrong) I’m guessing this will take The Imperial. And I hope Solea gets a staring role in whatever she does next. She deserves nothing less than top billing in a musical.
In a strangely timely fashion, Wait in the Wings over on YT just dropped a doc on the OG Chess.
I always have loved the music of Chess from the concert recording but never knew what when down to make it flop so hard back in the 80s. Dang. What a mess. But now it kinda gives me a bar that has been set (in my own mind) for this revival. The original ORIGINAL vision sounded amazing to me. So now... can/will this revival fix what got broken between London and Broadway back then? Do we know yet who the choreographer on the revival is? I'm curious if movement is going to be a big part of it or not now.

The choreographer is Lorin Latarro.

I LOVED her work on Tommy and Heart of Rock and Roll so that's really promising in my eyes.

I watched that Chess documentary yesterday and some of the things that happened were insane. My take away from that was Trevor Nunn can take a lot of the blame for Chess flopping on Broadway as he removed everything that Michael Bennett had contributed to the show and to me it sounded from what the ensemble members said he pretty much removed all colour and movement from the show.
Test page for Chess is up, under the pseudonym Flahooley. Seems to confirm it’ll be taking the Imperial.

Hopefully it will break the curse but I’d rather not sit in those musty seats many more times before the renovation. I guess it hasn’t been approved yet.

At least we know now that Flahooley is a code name. Last year when a test page went up under that name, folks were trying to figure out if it really was a revival of Flahooley. (It wasn't. Looking back, I think it turned out to be McNeal at the Beaumont.)

Why do you think the Flahooley page is for Chess, and not some other future show?

Here are lists of (maybe) upcoming shows. Look for the ones with no venue announced. Note that plays will not go to the Imperial which has ~1450 seats. Unless we overlooked something there's only one candidate.
Furthermore, the Imperial is a Shubert venue and they are co-producers of Chess. I'm not sure these lists are complete but it seems a good bet.
I'm a bit surprised because most people thought they would go for a somewhat smaller place like the Broadhurst to mitigate the risk but it seems with Lea and Aaron on board they can't be too shy.

Do we think this is waiting for the Broadhurst?

I assume so. If they wanted the imperial I think they would have announced it after Smash announced closing.
Really hope they announce onsale ticket dates soon.

Seriously. Got my next trip already booked and need to slot this in somewhere already
If they were smart, they’d wait for July 20 to launch a presale (International Chess Day), general onsale later that week plus a music video.

Is the Imperial even going to be available, what with the construction on The Torch? I also thought the theater was getting an overhaul.
Whoever made the shows website and overall graphic design needs to be taken out back…
The combo of red and magenta font is really strange. You can have one or the other, but they do not go together well at all.
CHESS performances begin October 15, 2025 at the Imperial Theatre with opening night set for November 16.

Do we know who the design team is on this?

This hasn't aged well.
Currently in the queue on Telecharge. Let's hope that the access code from the Chess website that you had to sign up for, will be sent out on time. And, not land in our in boxes hours later.
