"The Room Where it Happens" is probably my favorite song in the score. Not only does it so smartly combine historical depiction with important character development, it's an incredibly catchy, aurally satisfying, and impeccably performed piece of musical theatre.
It almost frustrates me how good this show is. After seeing it the day before opening I thought I would be "Satisfied" with the cast recording until I could see it again on tour or in a few years when tickets become more affordable. However, this album has given me an all-consuming need to see this show (with this cast) again. Might have to give in and drop some dough over Thanksgiving.
I agree Kad.
It's the one-two punch of a great melody paired with intricate and insightful lyrics. It's a mini-masterpiece in a show that is itself a masterpiece.
Lin re-posted a track explanation breakdown on tumblr and it's pretty fantastic. I'd list some here, but they are all great and you should read them all!

^Lin didn't actually write that, he just reblogged it on his tumblr
This album has been on loop since it came out. There are so many references and jokes I missed during the show, I'm so happy we finally have an hq version to catch everything. This really is a show/recording that calls for repeat viewing. Props to Lin for steaming it early and also allowing it to be on Spotify so everyone can have a chance to hear it.
It's not very unusual for labels to stream things a few days before they want you to buy them.

Sure but I just appreciate any artist in general who willing to put their music on a free model

Has anyone written up a plotline of the musical? I'm putting almost everything together from the cast recording but there are little things I'm stumbling on. (I know it's history, but it has differences, and it's such broad history. Though maybe it being history is why nobody's done this on WP.)

I need to listen to this more but my first impressions are..it's definitely just a musical (I know this sounds ridiculous but given the hype around this show, sometimes it's hard to forget), though a high quality musical with an interesting and sometimes addictive score. As an Australian who has never really studied US history at all, I can't say I find it to be the most engaging subject matter. But this might build with time.

What exactly would make it more than just a musical?!
I literally cannot stop listening to Helpless / Satisfied. Also You'll Be Back, What else are people listening to on repeat???
I can't get enough of My shot, You'll be back, and Non-stop.

The Schuyler Sisters and Satisfied are up there. The ladies are SLAYING this score.
I'm also loving "Satisfied" and "You'll be Back". Jonathan Groff is hilarious - love his accent and vocal performance.

Wait for It and Satisfied.
And the other day I danced around and sang "never gon' be president now" repeatedly in celebratory fashion which may have been related to actual events...
Will this be available on Spotify?
Someone earlier said they were glad he put it on Spotify, so... did you actually look for it?
So I just bought on iTunes, no digital book?
It doesn't look like there will be a digital booklet which is odd because Lin hinted in a previous tweet that there would be.
Lin was definitely working on a booklet for the CD, since he said it was so dense, he needed to break it up into two booklets...
My guess is because of how fast they recorded and how much material there is, they just aren't able to get the booklet finished for the digital release
^ Damn, was really looking forward to the digital booklet.
The thing he posted on Tumblr today looked like it came from a booklet, though, no?
