I went tonight since I’d been craving to see this pairing since it was announced. Unfortunately, Sherie was out (and has been out sick most of the week per staff).
It’s been 4 years since I’ve seen the show (Glick/Blanchard/Borle) and it’s held up TREMENDOUSLY.
I must emphasize there is simply nothing that Nicholas Christopher cannot do. I’ve seen this man as a Four Top, Burr, Pirelli, Sweeney Todd, and Jelly Roll Morton and he deserves a special Tony for RANGE. Seeing him play nebbishy and awkward took some getting used to, but once Seymour finally begins the relationship with a talking Audrey II, things REALLY take off. The “Feed Me (Git It)” scene was some of Nick’s finest work and, as his Seymour grows more morally conflicted and seduced by fame/money, you see glimmers of that diabolical side he’s known for peek through and it’s DELICIOUS. Also, he seems to add a little R&B vocal riff to the songs which I liked
The understudy Audrey was Melissa Victor and DAMN! She came guns blazing. Initially, based on physical appearance, I struggled because she looks like she could beat someone’s behind, but she leaned into the role’s vulnerability, and GOOD LORD SHE HAS A SET OF PIPES ON HER! Her “Suddenly Seymour” had the audience cheering.
Carpinello was a good choice for Orin. I liked that he was more sleazy than cartoonishly diabolical. Stephen DeRosa as Mushnik was also a hoot.
I’m really impressed at the tight ship they are running over there. Usually these productions begin to show their age, but this seemed about as fresh as the first time I went in Feb 2020.

Just curious, where is the lottery seat location ?

It really is sad that someone as talented as she is cannot get better employment than ninth replacement in this show. I will admit that, despite seeing it at least three times over the years I really think this show is a waste.

Why is it a waste? It seems relatively easy to star cast and it’s a fun, B-movie show that just so happens to be one of the more popular musicals to come out of the 1980s. Also, maybe Sherie wants something relatively simple and fun and not have to go through the headache of developing a new show and role from scratch. She’s able to lean on her most polished of skills and the audience eats it up regardless.
I went back again today and I was able to see both Nick and Sherie and, my heart, Sherie was absolutely perfect. She started singing “Somewhere That’s Green” and I was a gay mess. I was so happy to see her back on stage and it was a great afternoon.

I hope that you are right re her decision to do this. I fear that it is all she is getting offered, which (as i said) would be sad, given her talent. I will again admit that I think LSOH is a complete waste of time, so there is bias.
Little Shop is one of the most beloved musicals ever, a marvel of tight storytelling, smart adaptation, excellent character-driven songwriting and Audrey is arguably its crown jewel. I would imagine Sherie was thrilled to be able to play the role in a successful revival, even as a replacement.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."

Sherie's got money, she doesn't have to do any project she doesn't want to do. This isn't something she had to do. Even if she wasn't getting offers on Broadway she could be making a Boon in high profile regional productions.
Reg Rogers is joining the cast as Mushnik on the 23rd; I'd imagine Stephen DeRosa is leaving for a holiday break before BOOP rehearsals start back up.
James Carpinello is leaving the show January 5th. And I can't help noticing that Christian Borle's schedule is probably fairly empty for the spring all of a sudden...what do you think the odds are he might put a few weeks back in the Dentist chair?

I've wanted to go back to Skid Row to see Nick and Sherie, but I'd looove to see Borle, too! I was sad I missed his run, so if he comes back, I might just have to make another visit happen...

I think the production with the current leads came across as a little... blunt to me. It mostly lacked nuance and seemed to reject quiet moments and letting things build over blasting the volume and selling every joke hard. But it's still Little Shop and, helmed by capable performers, it's a fun night out. Sherie and Nicholas were the perfect combination for me, though I'm also curious about the Rob McClure/Lena Hall run. Sherie was herself but also very much in the Ellen Greene mold and I was surprised at how much Nicholas was able to transform himself to suit the role. It's a good time to see the show and get a straightforward take.

Guess it’s time for my 10th visit. Reg Rogers as Orin in the legendary Florida production of LSOH was one of the funniest performances I’ve ever seen on stage. I hope he’ll bring some of his unique humor to Mushnik.
So sorry if this has been answered and I missed it, but word on how long Sherrie is contracted for? Somehow I have still not seen this production (though my husband has seen it twice) and really want to see it with one of my favorite Broadway divas.

There was no specific end date for either performer but I would assume that Nicholas Christopher would either leave for good or a hiatus in March to do Love Life at City Center

Talking with someone the other day, I said i would be very interested to see Kerry Butler as Audrey, two decades after she originally played the role. I think (at the time) she wasn’t right for it but I’d be fascinated to see her do it, now.

I would love to see this! I’d also love to see Michaela Jae Rodriguez come in for this production as Audrey, she was BRILLIANT at La Jolla!
