Flabergasted is what I am! I was hoping we'd have it in time for Christmas....I LOVE that we got this surprise! HOW did they get this mixed to very fast???? I wonder if when Groff mentioned them being in the recording studio on the Late Show (or was it the Tonight Show? I can't keep them straight) if they went in for fixes.
But yes, like Jordan, how am I suppose to go to sleep NOW????
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Listening now... Sounds like the overture is the complete version, maybe abbreviated in bits and pieces, but very similar to the 2012 version. Which is very strange because the 2013 version does not have a complete overture. I am seeing the show in January.

The full [2012 version of the] Overture was reinstated for Broadway after being greatly truncated at NYTW. Additional musicians were also added for Bway, bringing the orchestra to 13 players.
Sounds very good so far despite this being a smaller band than the original and 2012 albums. All I really miss is the tuba.
Wow, this sounds astonishingly quick, especially since they only recorded it about a month ago, right? I can't wait to get the physical CD on Jan. 12. Hope they do a CD signing!
By contrast, "Sweeney Todd" opened last spring, but it only released its cast album digitally on Sept. 8, and I think I read that the physical CD is coming out later this month.
Well this is an amazing surprise! I love when cast albums do this surprise release instead of doing the teasing with individual tracks for months *cough*SweeneyTodd*cough*. The Funny Girl revival also did a surprise release last year!

Literally just woke up to this news! I’m so excited to listen to this!
The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince
I had a hell of a time trying to find this on Spotify. It wouldn’t come up under the title nor under any of the principals’ names. I had to type in “New Broadway Cast of Merrily….” and the album finally came up.
I probably look a fool saying that, but thought it might help someone 😬
