Will he show up at all? Judging by all those empty seats …

Talk is he’s very generous and he only chooses to perform to allow his understudies to have a break. He’s basically their standby.

I thought he had solid attendance during Hadestown. Was that not the case?

Certainly was my impression, too. Lead Hadestown for a year+ with normal attendance. I think this stems from DEH days, no? Was he out of Sweeny alot, too?

If that's true, what a cool thing to do!

This is anecdotal of course, but when I used to work for a pretty legit talent agency a few years back, almost all our black male leading actors were offered appointments for Christian in Moulin Rouge. I think maybe one out of the entire roster accepted an appointment. They just didn't seem interested in the role. Again, anecdotal and from one agency, but I remember finding that surprising.

I went back a few weeks ago to see Solea but unfortunately, she was out. Hailee Kaleem Wright was very good unlike the previous Satine I saw who appeared to be sleepwalking. I was really blown away by Cardoza. He had passion and such an outstanding voice. I am glad that I got to see him. I still would like to see Solea before she leaves and check out the chemistry she has with Cardoza.

Anyone seeing Jordan's Christian debut tonight?
(Remember, Boy George does not perform on Tuesdays.)

Solea was out last night. It’s gonna be like trying to win the lottery to see this on a night where she, Jordan and Boy George are all in, isn’t it?

Solea was out again tonight and I was a bit gutted over that. After last week, I'd been looking forward all week to (hopefully) seeing her tonight. Just so people know this theater doesn't consider anyone in the show "above the title" regardless if they have a huge 7 foot tall poster with their name on it in front of the building, so no refunds or exchanges due to any absence (even Boy George). Fun.
So we stayed and I'm glad I did because Jordan Fisher is turning out a reeeeeeeeeally good performance as Christian. Probably the most intense take on it I've seen anyone do. I need to see what that performance matched with Solea's is like. Does anyone know how long she's in it for?
I'd never seen Boy George before and as a gay 80's kid it was kind of a thrill to see him live in person. But.....yeah. I think everyone knows. It just isn't great. Anyways, go see Jordan Fisher.

I was there last night as well! I've seen several different Christians over the years and I have to say Jordan's probably my favorite one. He really nails the charmingly goofy earnestness that I had a hard time believing with other (very talented!) performers in the role. And nailed it vocally and emotionally.
This was the second time I've gone and Solea's been out - I think her alternate is fantastic based on the last time I went, but last night I think she may have been struggling a bit. Or maybe I was just expecting her to option up at the end of Elephant Love Medley (insane) like last time and was bummed out it didn't happen here!
Boy George.... that was probably the worst performance I've ever seen in my life, on or off Broadway. And I've seen some doozies. I guess it's nice he has fans but yikes.

Did anyone else see that I'm assuming accidental post? Wayne Brady as Zidler and Taye Diggs as The Duke starting in July

Solea is doing her shows at Cafe Carlyle this weekend. Last night was her first one, but I think she was already scheduled to be out of the show all week. I saw an Instagram story somewhere about it.

Yes, she's been on vacation all week and is performing at Cafe Carlyle this weekend which I'm attending. Moulin Rouge is really good at informing the folks at understudies.org about any absences and her understudy has been listed all week, so information that's pretty easily obtained.
Oh Boy George... Sigh. Can't wait for his replacement ! 😉

Very curious about Solea's Carlyle show. Hope you report back and share the details please.

Well when I got these tickets last week, I specifically asked if anyone was scheduled to be out and was told no. But that lines up with their “nobody is above the title and you see who you see” attitude, I suppose.

Not sure about this but throwing it out here as some in my circle heard this:
Last weeks notice coming soon and is it true that CHESS is going here?

Apparently, the reason why the Wayne Brady + Taye Diggs post was deleted was because the social media team was unaware that the closing notice was going to be announced before the two of them were confirmed to be joining. (Don’t quote me on this, though.)
If ROUGE! sticks it out, the Shubert would be an enticing pivot if HK continues to slip.

Not even a little bit true. You’re making things up again, Arnold.
