Thank you. 7 hours to get from Albany to NYC and it was worth it!!!! At the stage door a woman told Sheryl she came from Australia just for this.
We Millie fans enjoyed this performance enormously. I can't say enough that hasn't been said already, but for the very few that just didn't get it, that this was just a concert, and they seemed to be the ones sitting next to me in row E right side. That said, it was so great to see most of the cast reunited, and it was a party atmosphere. Most of the ensemble is now in their 40's or 50's, but they still have all the moves. Casey Nicholaw however did not reprise his Speed Tapper role but appeared as Dexter, basically a cameo role with one line, "18 years". That is also my dream role, if I ever see a community production around me casting. I also very much enjoyed Anne L Nathan, with her lovely elbows, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Harriet Harris, and seeing Sutton and Gavin together again.
There was some ad libing, notably Marc Kudich on the subject of boss hitting on secretary scenario in this day and age, and this show would definitlly not identify with a current modern, but it was a different world back then, and I love the music and dancing. "One step ahead Jazz Age"!
I don't know if I've ever had a bigger smile on my face than I did watching Sutton and Gavin in their scenes together. I'm a huge fan of both, and last night was the kind of joyous night that reminds me why I fell in love with musical theatre so many years ago.

When they were swaying on the “ledge” my heart soared.

Also a huge fan of Sutton and Gavin. Didn’t see the original production 15 years ago, but they have great chemistry and need to do another show together.

Happy you made it! I can't imagine how anxious I would be sitting on a broken down bus.
Does anyone know when the Ragtime concert is happening?

They genuinely love each other so much. You could see it in their scenes, their playfulness, and in pictures from the party afterwards.
It was a wonderful evening. I was expecting a concert of just the songs so was elated that they did a semi-staged reading of the full script too.
Harriet Harris and Marc Kudisch were on fire. Foster and Creel are aging like fine wine. Sheryl Lee Ralph is not aging lol.
Millie truly has the perfect score - not a dud in the bunch. Seeing Forget About the Boy with the full choreo brought such joy to my soul. So appreciative of all the hard work that went into the evening. And for such a great cause as well!!
Why is Megan McGinnis not as big as the rest of the cast? She wasn't the original, but listening to the album now, I think she's definitely a better singer and she was fantastic overall.
Also, a mouse ran down the right aisle of the orchestra during the second act. I'd never seen one in a theatre, but being in the Lion King theatre, I immediately thought "Where is Scar?"
For the record- the Marc Kudisch line was not ad libbing. His statement about "brute force" and that not being what women want nowadays was in the original production! Unless you are talking about the awkward pause after the "bolt the door, take off your things, lets have a taste" line.
(Sorry- I know this show a little TOO well and couldn't let that one slide...)

I saw a mouse run around seats and the aisles during the first act of Hello, Dolly! during Bette’s last week (I was in a SRO spot on the aisle). I was waiting for someone to see it and to raise a stink
^I saw one running up and down the aisle during the run of Gypsy at the Shubert. I'm absolutely terrified of rodents, so it made me extremely uncomfortable.

Lol, you’re a stronger man than me. I probably would have screamed and bolted!
It was a magical experience! The talent onstage was incredible and the audience was living for it. The only time I've seen people leap to their feet that quickly was after Rose's Turn at Patti's final performance.
Loved loved loved this magical evening and am unhealthily desperate to relive it again lol!! If anyone knows of any video clips going around, please post!! #whoopeebaby #hotoffthepress
I have to follow up on thia...is there a story to why Angela Christian didn't participate? She seemed to be one of the only original cast members missing.

I cannot speak as to what exactly happened, but the original company and Angela did not get along well. She was most likely asked and declined.
