Deena - I'm listening to the Endgame on the OBC and I'm not hearing this note...
The lyrics you site are for the London version, I think, but their Broadway equivalents are the lines 'You just haven't got the instincts of a winner!' sung by Cassonoff and then overlapped by Carrol singing 'There is nothing more to do...'
Both seem to be pretty on-pitch. I'm confused. Help.
While not a cast recording, Ella Fitzgerald forgets her words on her live Berlin recording while singing "Mack the Knife". But this professional covers beautifully. She sings it again on her second live Berlin recording and mentions how she messed it up the first time.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
I saw Idina do Rent onstage, and she did the line the same. Her laughter sounds like a mix of nervousness, along with the absurdity of the situation. It works fine.
"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive.
"Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot."
"No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one."
Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.
During "I Can Do Better Than That" on The Last Five Years OCR, Sherie Rene Scott drops the "me" in "and it feels like my life led me right to your side". I never realized it until the other day, when I heard SRS's version after listening to only Lauren Kennedy's for a week. It's not a big mistake, but it just bugs me because I keep noticing it.
Timmerbo, you are right about the correct lyric line on Endgame. thanks for correcting me- its been a while since i listened. Listen to the "winner" note by Casnoff- it is really off. Thank god that David Carroll overlaps him... listen carefully and you'll hear it!
I think one of the violins forgets to cut off on the Wicked CR (Defying Gravity. Right before the last line of the duet part).
Oh, and on the Canadian CR of Joseph, is it just me or are there weird sounds like some girl constantly going "ouh?" about 3:48 into the song?

I think it works either way (I like both versions) and I never noticed it before, but now that I've become accustomed to hearing it one way, suddenly hearing it without caught me offguard. I had to go back and play it again the first time I noticed it.
I've listened to "popular" about 20 times after you mentioned it..but I don't hear anything except the stupid jingle bells that are supposed to be there (but shouldn't)
He's the Wizard - similar glitch as in Aida's I Know the Truth on the word Oz - it is even more obvious...
"I think Harvey [Fierstein] wishes he were a black woman. I say he's the largest black woman in the show. I wish Harvey were straight, cuz I'd do him in a minute. I like big burly mother f***ers like him." ~Mary Bond Davis on Harvey Fierstein Thanks to Mistress @ spouzic.com
"Because reason says I should've died three years ago"
While they hold "ago", Someone makes a sound (sounds like Jesse) before they come in singing "There's Only Us"

I've produced/mixed many CDs and let me tell you that there are almost always at least 2, if not more, voices singing at once. It is normally VERY soft, but it is there (it has to do with the way the ear takes in sound). In the case you mentioned the mixer probably raised one of the voices up by a DB or two, causing it to sound different.
It's very...glaring, though. And it sounds like it's from a different take, since the two Nathans seem to be singing differently. I haven't produced any CDs, but I thought early on that this was because they did a take with Nathan alone in the booth, then stopped, brought in the Little Old Ladies and continued, then made a mistake splicing the tracks together. But...keep in mind that I've never even been in a recording studio.

He says "Amen," I believe.
"During this performance, please feel free to let your cell phones and pagers ring willy-nilly. However, do remember that there are heavily-armed knights on stage and you might well be dragged up and impaled."
(Pre-curtain announcement at the new Broadway musical Monty Python's Spamalot)
I noticed this today. In "Six Months Out of Every Year" on the Damn Yankees revival recording, one of the husbands burps (quite loud) towards the end...

In the 10th Anniversary Concert recording of Les Mis--
Colm Wilkinson as Valjean says "DOWN, JAVERT!" instead of "LOOK DOWN, JAVERT!" at the beginning of 'Javert's Suicide.' It's amusing in that it's the one source of many slash fanfiction writers in the fandom.
"Oh, good. After all, I can rub my stomach and pat my head at the same time, and I can do it with my eyes closed while whistling 'The Entertainer.' That's rhythm for you."

alright, i haven't read every single mistake mentioned...so nobody pounce if it's already been mentioned. BUT! in "heart and music," during the line "and everyone talks about change," somebody comes in early on the "-ge" of change. haha it drives me nuts. now i gotta go through all my cds and find these other mistakes.

Company OBC, "Company" during the long "We LOVE...................................you" section. There is a man singing the most foul wrong-note and then he can't hold it and drops out half way through. I'm also prone to thinking in RENT OBC that Jessie Martin's "I'll Cover You" reprise when he's riffing "Yeah, yeah" etc.. is not quite the pitch. I heard a boot-leg of the show well before the cast album came out and it sounded right in the theatre, just not on the record. It also depends on what you call mistakes. On many early 50-60-70's albums there are loads of sloppy cut-offs by the chorus. If I were music directing that night in the theatre, i would call that a mistake.
