Someone was discussing this in the Groundhog Day thread, but I wondered what announced shows we really expect to actually hit theaters this coming Spring.
Come from Away seems like a nearly sure thing (and I've seen rumors of it taking the Belasco).
Bandstand keeps coming up, but that seems 100% dead in the water, or am I wrong?
Spongebob is the one I keep expecting to hear an official announcement on (I even have a guess of what theater they're waiting for and keep anticipating a closing notice that hasn't come)
Half-Time...I just have no idea either way.
Amelie seems like it's almost definitely coming, but I'm not really expecting it until next Fall.
Keep in mind, this is not based on any real information--only rumblings I've read on the board or heard in the air. But I'm curious if anyone has any more actual info (though other rumors and guesses are also always a treat).
Oh, and War Paint. But...that didn't seem to get the reviews that it would need to transfer, did it? I know it had been rumored for the Nederlander, but it seems to me (again a total guess) that it's unlikely now.
Be pretty disappointed if War Paint doesn't transfer, particularly given the apparent confidence people like Liza Headband had about its transfer (that it was already confirmed). That said, there is still a lot of time to announce a transfer.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
While war paint didn't get swell reviews it did do well financially. Yes I know the Goodman is a subscription house, but it's still pretty amazing to be the most financially successful show at the goodman. And with Patti it will do fine in New York.

For some reason, there is a contingent of people on here who keep trying to make Bandstand a thing. There's been absolutely no word about it after its less than inspiring debut at Papermill a year ago. The producers announced a plan to try to get it to Broadway in 16-17 last November, with no concrete details and no updates since that time. There haven't been any industry presentations, workshops, or readings, either.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."

I know several people who were involved with it at Papermill, and they were told recently that the show is still supposed to be coming in., for whatever that's worth.
yes, COME FROM AWAY is coming. 99% it's taking the Belasco. WAR PAINT apparently has the Nederlander. This just leaves the Cort & Hayes open for the Spring assuming the SUNSET revival is still on track to take the Palace. THE MASTER BUILDER could take either theater. BANDSTAND & AMELIE should both wait until next season. It's already a crowded season for new musicals. There's also WHEN GOD LOOKED AWAY that still needs a theater.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Amelie hasn't had its 2nd tryout at the Ahmanson theatre yet , right? I'd imagine they will wait for the reviews for that production first before deciding to finalize any plans to transfer
What, no talk of King Kong, Lord of the Rings, Busker Alley, Oklahoma (either the DC Signature or Bard productions), Ken Davenport's latest project, Whorehouse, or Yank?
Is anything announced for Walter Kerr after Falsettos closes on Jan 8th? (barring an extension with a different Marvin). Because that's another rather great theater for bigger shows which will be open come spring unless I missed an announcement.
Caption: Every so often there was a rare moment of perfect balance when I soared above him.
How is that even possible? Assuming there are no extensions, their out-of-town tryout goes through the middle of January. It would easily be another 2 - 3 months before a Broadway transfer provided there are no major rewrites or developmental labs/readings.
I actually don't have any insider information on this, but given the type of show Spongebob wants to be (semi-interactive) it seems like the Schubert may be the best fit unless another show has already snatched that space

And did Spongebob announce any partnership with the Shuberts? I haven't found news of that, but I could certainly have missed it. I just keep wondering (and I'm not hoping it closes, just looking at grosses) if Kinky Boots might pack it in before Spring. Seems like it could be a fit.
