Can someone explain to me the different of Karen and Ana's parts? I think I missed it.

They've never explained it.
Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

Is the acting getting worse each week or is it because the writing is getting worse each week? I can't tell anymore..

This scene with Megan and Bernadette, "Hang The Moon" is great. This is an incredible song.

Oh I disagree. The song is fine, but the scene was horrendous I thought. If that were in a musical, I would be bored out of my mind. And the scenery is so strange.

Karen's father looks like he's way too old to be her dad. He looks more like her grandfather.

If they let the characters just sing, this show would be great. It's story and dialogue is where it fails.

Loved the song.
And, Dylan Baker does NOT look like her grandfather. Sheesh!

I will say, I did love the twist of Julia fixing the book for Hit List.

You are INSANE if you think Dylan Baker looks too old to be Karen's dad... Seriously?
But on to the actual episode. It was the first in weeks that didn't absolutely infuriate me so.... Good job?

I think the strange scenery was supposed to be the mental institution where Marilyn's mother lived. Terrific song.

There were many moments when I burst out laughing at the ridiculousness of the dialogue. I know it was meant to be serious, but it was just so damn silly.

I think Ana's character is The Diva, as in THE archetypal Diva. She isn't the diva that Karen's character becomes, she is a symbol.
As was previously mentioned, it seems to be a reference/homage to Arachne in Spider-Man. Boy, Hit List is really just a collage of elements from postmodern and Impressionist musicals thrown together, isn't it? The plot of Hedwig, a Spider-Man like character, aerial work and "physical theatre" choreography from American Idiot, and songs that establish mood and tone, not plot and character, as pioneered by Spring Awakening (sure, Lady In The Dark did that much earlier, but that was different).

On a serious note, I agree with Ivy and what she said in that last scene was not crazy or uncalled for. Her mother generally seemed to think she was doing what was best, but of course it was through deprecating measures.

It was nice of Sam Mendes to give Betnadette her Rose wig for that song.

I just started the episode and have rewound the scene with Messing reading her email to Borle three times. She is wearing different glasses in different cuts of the dialogue! It's brief, but this must have filmed twice with her wearing different glasses each take. How weird and sloppy.
Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco.
Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!
